His response was reassuring as he wrote that the game is “very much still in development” as of his last check, while adding that he has no information on when Sony or Insomniac might reveal it publicly.
This also isn’t the first time the leaker’s name has come up in connection with the game. He’s built a reputation for accurately calling unannounced PlayStation titles ahead of their official reveals, which is part of why his comments carry weight even without any statement from Sony itself.
His update also lines up with an earlier pushback from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schrier, who dismissed rumors earlier (in a ResetEra thread) that claimed the Venom project had been outright cancelled. With two separately credible voices landing on the same conclusion, the picture looks considerably brighter than it did a few months ago, when the game’s future seemed genuinely uncertain.

Marvel’s Venom first became public knowledge through a massive 2023 ransomware attack on Insomniac Games, which exposed internal roadmaps and story documents for several unreleased projects. Venom was reportedly present on that roadmap, originally targeting a 2025 launch window that has since come and gone without any official word.
In the time since, Insomniac has invested its resources into Marvel’s Wolverine, which, at the time of this writing, is due for release in 10 days, i.e., September 15, 2026.
The silence around the Venom game makes sense from a business standpoint, given how giving spotlight to a third unannounced superhero game would ruin the momentum Wolverine is trying to build for its own launch.
Earlier leaks tied to the original breach suggested the game would center on Eddie Brock as the lead character, continuing the plot threads introduced in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and would carry a noticeably smaller budget than Insomniac’s mainline Spider-Man entries.
