Recently, a rumour started making rounds on the internet that pop sensation Taylor Swift is thinking of permanently moving out of the US. On Thursday, September 19, 2024, SpaceX Fanclub posted the rumor on Facebook for the first time.
The post featured a collage of the Lover singer and the Statue of Liberty with the text:
“Taylor Swift Is Considering Leaving the US Permanently: “What Did I Do Wrong?”
However, it was noted in the caption that the post was satirical. Moreover, the satirical Facebook group, SpaceX Fanclub, mentioned that they don’t publish factually correct news. Hence, it is safe to assume that Taylor Swift is not leaving the US permanently.
Notably, the rumor started after Swift endorsed Harris over the Trump opponent for the November 5 polls. She took to her Instagram on September 11 to publicly support Harris.

On September 18, the SpaceX Fanclub Facebook page published a post alleging that the US pop sensation Taylor Swift “is considering leaving the US permanently.”v
The satirical post has received over 2.1T reactions and over 1.7T comments, at the time of writing. But the description of the page claimed that it dealt only with satire.
“We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real,” the Facebook page’s bio read.
The same was said in the pinned comment on the post, which also directed viewers to a story on the satirical news website Esspots.
According to the website, Swift is allegedly thinking about permanently leaving the United States, the nation that catapulted her to international stardom, and packing her bags.
The article reported that Swift is facing political and personal backlash, leading her to doubt her role in the country she once called home. The report further stated that Swift has been allegedly under attack from all angles since the outrage she received for endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. Then, it stated that Swift supposedly told her close friends what was going on and said,
“I thought people wanted me to speak up. I thought using my platform for good was the right thing to do. But now, it feels like no matter what I do, it’s wrong.”
The same article also reported that,
“She’s been saying for months that maybe it’s time to go. The criticism, the hate—she just doesn’t understand what she did wrong. And now, she’s thinking maybe the U.S. just isn’t the place for her anymore.”
The article stated that everything began with Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, intended to inspire her fans to support the politician. Instead of praise, she reportedly faced heavy criticism, especially from conservatives who claimed her views alienated her followers. However, it’s not true that the singer is leaving the country.
For those unaware, after the ABC-hosted Harris-Trump presidential debate on Tuesday, September 10, Taylor Swift gave Kamala Harris her support on Instagram.
In the post uploaded on September 11, she declared that she had “made my choice” after “doing my research” and that she would be supporting Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in the next election.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” the post read.
Nevertheless, Taylor Swift didn’t say anything regarding the entire rumor.
