Enough is enough.

House of the Dragon season 1 had a very unique timeline, telling a story of roughly 20 years in just 10 episodes. The show managed to do so through several time jumps and a few recasts, including the one for the leads, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. Moving forward, it wasn’t expected to ever see their younger versions back.

Still, the show managed to surprise its fans with a little cameo of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s teenage version appearance in the face of Milly Alcock, who portrayed her in the first half of the first season. Though it was nice to see the actress back once, the second time made the viewers wonder, what exactly the show is trying to say.

Is Milly Alcock Back to House of the Dragon?

After the scandal that erupted between the grown Rhaenyra and her now-husband Daemon Targaryen over his involvement in the murder of Prince Jaehaerys, Daemon left the Queen’s Watch for Harrenhal. There, the mystical powers of the cursed castle took over, and the king consort began to have strange visions.

The first appearance of Milly Alcock as the young Rhaenyra was significant. She shamed him for his recklessness, as the writers pointed out that she had always been his greatest weakness. However, by showing Rhaenyra from the past, they also showed how much more dear she was to him in her most vulnerable state.

Though Daemon remained in Harrenhal, for some reason viewers did not expect him to linger in his grief for so long, nor did they expect the young Rhaenyra to reappear, now in the robes of the adult Rhaenyra. And this dreamy vision in particular did not go down well with the fanbase.

Even though young Rhaenyra’s visions are important to Daemon’s storyline, there’s nothing to stop these two appearances from being made into one. With so many characters from both teams now spread across so many locations, screen time is precious, and viewers already feel that the real Rhaenyra, now leading Team Black, isn’t getting nearly enough.
