New cast members have just been announced for the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The news was revealed as Season 3 gets production underway in Spain.
As announced by AMC Networks on social media, five new names have been added to the Walking Dead family with their roles in Season 3 of Daryl Dixon. Coming on board as new series regulars are Spanish actors Eduardo Noriega (In the Fire), Oscar Jaenada (Chaos Walking), and Alexandra Masangkay (Stags). The other two new actors to the franchise, entering the series in Season 3 with supporting roles, are Candela Saitta (Maxima) and Hugo Arbues (Through My Window). All five were welcomed into the fold with posts on X touting their casting.
Of course, it is expected that Norman Reedus will return as Daryl Dixon in the third season of the Walking Dead spinoff. In the upcoming second season, he’ll be joined by fellow franchise legend Melissa McBride, who’s back as a series regular in her role as Carol Peletier. After Daryl found himself relocated to France in Season 1, it was revealed that Carol set out to find her old friend across the ocean. Season 2 has been subtitled as The Book of Carol, hinting at a much larger role for the character compared to her limited presence in the first season.
Melissa McBride Teases Much More Carol in Season 2
“Without going into too much detail, we’re doing some things that I wanted to do in the original series,” McBride recently told TheWrap about exploring new territory with Carol in Season 2. “Deal with things, deal with the repercussions of loss and things like that. Things that just — unspoken things nobody had conversations about, and how everything that they’ve been through really affects them.”
McBride further teased, “What feels different now is that she’s healed from a lot of that. And she has really harnessed her, I guess warrior self, survivor self, and is now facing a slew of different challenges and coming to terms with things that have happened. It feels like a good progression to me, and I’m really proud of this character. I’m very excited looking forward to what’s coming next.”
The spinoff could end up spanning for several more years after Season 3. Reedus has hinted that
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sept. 29, 2024.
