THE Los Angeles Chargers have shocked NFL fans after one of their latest roster cuts.

Despite the fact that starting quarterback Justin Herbert has yet to fully recover from a foot injury, the Chargers opted to cut quarterback Max Duggan.

The decision to cut the 23-year-old came just a year after he was drafted in the seventh round out of TCU.

Duggan has yet to make a regular-season appearance in the NFL.

However, he did play in the Chargers’ preseason opening 16-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, going four of seven for 41 yards.

Unfortunately for the former Horned Frog, he then missed out on their 13-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.

The move leaves the Chargers with only Easton Stick and Luis Perez to back up the injured Herbert.

After the transaction was announced, fans flocked to X where some suggested the move was driven by head coach Jim Harbaugh’s 2022 Fiesta Bowl loss to Duggan’s TCU while he was the boss of Michigan.

The 51-45 win for Duggan and Co. sent them to SoFi Stadium for the National Championship Game, where they ultimately suffered a blowout loss to Georgia, 65-7.

“Harbaugh got his revenge,” one fan tweeted.

“Love to believe this was a long con by Harbaugh to exact revenge for Michigan’s loss to TCU,” said a second.

“Jim is salty,” joked a third.

Along with Duggan, the Chargers also released wideout Leon Johnson.

They also announced the signings of linebacker Frank Ginda and defensive back Jalyn Phillips.

There was also good news for Chargers fans on Monday, with Herbert returning to practice.

“I thought I heard music,” Harbaugh joked when asked about Herbert’s return.

The return of the former Pro Bowler to practice comes five days before the Chargers final preseason game.

They’re scheduled to head to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday.
