Russell Crowe could not work because of how funny Ryan Gosling is.
Even though Ryan Gosling has been in the public eye for decades now, in recent years, the media seems to have gained a newfound appreciation for him as a person. While this is the case now, there is no denying that he has had some very iconic projects throughout his career. One of the best examples would be his 2016 film, Nice Guys, starring Russell Crowe and Angourie Rice.

The film has been regarded as a masterpiece, being one of the most hilarious films in recent years. The dynamic that Gosling and Crowe share provides some of the funniest moments in the film, which has caused many to want a sequel to the movie. With Warner Bros.’ recent announcement that one of its intellectual properties would be getting a sequel, many wish for this film to be the one that gets another shot.
However, Crowe revealed something quite interesting about his co-star that would make it difficult for them to collaborate again.
Ryan Gosling Made It Impossible For Russell Crowe to Work in Peace
Nice Guys has a lot of scenes that encompass just how funny the movie is. However, there is one particular scene where Jackson Healy breaks Holland March’s hand, giving him a spiral fracture of the left radius, to send a message. This results in Ryan Gosling, who plays March, letting out a scream that can only be referred to as surprisingly high-pitched.
What made the scene all the more hilarious was the fact that Russell Crowe, who played Healy, did not bat an eye as the actor screeched for a concerning amount of time.SUGGESTED
Recently, Crowe gave an interview with GQ, where he was asked how he was able to stay in character, considering the scene is regarded as one of the most hilarious points in the story. The actor’s answer to the question was quite satisfying, to say the least.
I did f*cking laugh. Ryan Gosling is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life. Working with him is kind of torturous.

Crowe revealed that he absolutely laughed during the filming of the scene, even though it was not kept in the final product. He then mentioned that Gosling had a tendency to make him laugh in the worst moments, and that made it impossible for them to get any work done.
Ryan Gosling Broke Russell Crowe’s Long-Standing Record
Over the years, Russell Crowe has gained a reputation for always staying in character. As bloopers of any project show, it is quite common for actors to break character when something funny happens on set. It could be for the smallest things or something that causes the entire room to start chuckling. Despite this, the Gladiator actor will never be the first to crack a grin.

That was until he worked with Ryan Gosling.
I’m known for being able to just stay in character no matter what’s going on. But for whatever reason, Ryan tickles my fancy, and he can make me laugh at the drop of a hat.
During the interview, Crowe revealed that he was very aware of the reputation he had in Hollywood for his stoicism. However, when he was working with Gosling in Nice Guys, he could not help but constantly laugh during filming. He revealed that even though he does not find things like these funny, the Barbie actor was able to make Crowe laugh at the smallest things.
