Zibby Allen, who plays Jack Sheridan’s sister Brie on Virgin River, admitted she cried during the Christmas episodes of the Netflix drama – but her co-star couldn’t relate
Virgin River’s Zibby Allen got all emotional while filming the show’s Christmas specials, but co-star Alexandra Breckenridge just couldn’t see the tear-jerker moment in the same light.
Zibby, who’s known for her role as Brie, Jack Sheridan’s sister (played by Martin Henderson), shared her teary experience on a fresh episode of their podcast I Like You Very Much.
Chatting with fellow cast member Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel St. Claire on the Netflix hit, they looked back fondly at her “song and dance” number in Virgin River’s festive pageant.
“I cried in the audience!” confessed Zibby, earning sympathetic “awws” from her pals.
“It was so stupid,” she continued. “But it was just so cute and I got overwhelmed by it.”
While Zibby was getting all sentimental, Mel Monroe actress Alexandra could be heard laughing away in the background.
“You’re the best, Zibby!” cheered Teryl, as Alexandra was clearly having a giggle fit.
“Alex is like, ‘for real?!'” Zibby joked, noticing Alexandra’s bemused laughter.
On her part, Mel’s portrayer Alexandra explained: “I was laughing at things that were going on. Not you… other things that were happening at the time.
“I know, I loved it!” responded Zibby. “It touched me. With his ornaments hanging off his beard, it was so extra.”
“I think I was just so moved because I was like, ‘Is this real life? Like, are we in Virgin River?’ It was so precious.”
Later revelations shake the small town setting further, as Mel uncovers the identity of her biological father residing there: a man named Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson), who at first rejects any connection with her. However, by the culmination of the two-part Christmas special, he recognises his error and reunites with his daughter.
The burning question remains how smooth their newfound relationship will cruise into season six.
Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix.
