While Homelander has consistently revealed the despicable and vile sides to his persona, his unhealthy obsession with milk that has been well-documented from season 1, has added another complex layer to his villainy. This fetish was once again highlighted in episode 6 of the current season, which has now made Starr the butt of some hilarious jokes on social media.

Antony Starr Cannot Live Down This Season 4 Scene From The Boys

In season 4, Starr’s stunning shift that shows the character’s venom and vulnerability in equal measure, makes Homelander even more dangerous than before. One particular scene in episode 6 goes back to a major weakness that is brought on by his fetish for milk, which has been referred to from season 1.

Having been engineered and conditioned by Vought as an experiment, Homelander’s upbringing, which did not allow him to express or receive any form of affection especially maternal, gave rise to an obsession that manifested in the way he craved for milk. This vulnerability was seen playing out at different times.

This weakness in the character is exactly what Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry, uses to her advantage in the latest episode. Desperate to enter into Homelander’s inner circle and prove her worth, she visits him with an offer he cannot refuse.

Homelander, who assumes that Firecracker wants to have s*x with him when she starts to unbutton her shirt, refuses her advances, but is stunned to find out that her agenda is completely different when she shows him her b****ts filled with milk which she squirts on his face. Homelander proceeds to lie down in her arms and suckles her like a child while Firecracker soothes him.

This scene has elicited wild responses online especially with regard to Starr’s performance. The actor became the butt of jokes as fans hilariously speculated and commented on what emotions he may have felt while doing this scene. From memes to spot-on Homelander imitations, netizens had a field day at his expense.

How Henry Cavill Made Antony Starr Insecure About His Role In The Boys

Antony Starr made every other supervillain look meek and mild with his chilling portrayal of Homelander in The Boys. Playing the role of the psychopathic antagonist, Starr made fans and critics around the world shudder and applaud through his immersive performance, which he continues to build on through the latest season of the show.

While it is impossible to imagine anyone other than Starr who could have done justice to the role, the actor revealed that he was not confident in himself and his abilities when the opportunity was first presented to him. He confessed that he did not give the script much thought, and refrained from reading it when he found out that his character had superhuman abilities.

It turned out that Starr had a very specific reason for feeling so. With Henry Cavill being signed on as DC’s most celebrated hero Superman at the time, the actor was of the opinion that he was physically inferior in every way to The Witcher star, and was certain that he wouldn’t be picked for the part owing to potential comparisons. In a conversation with Metro, he recalled his trepidations and said,

I didn’t look at it for a week and a half and then I saw it was a superhero thing and I thought they’re not going to pick me anyway, I’m not made for that. Henry Cavill’s 12 feet tall, built like a 12 foot brick s**t house and he’s wonderful, handsome and charming – I’m not going to get that.

But Starr’s fear of failure was unwarranted, with the actor gaining superstardom through his chilling performance as Homelander. With a lot more left to unravel, fans will be eager to see the celebrity explore even darker shades to the character.

All seasons of The Boys are streaming on Amazon Prime.
