The end of ‘Emily in Paris’ season 4 sees Emily relocate to a new city for work (and love!)
Emily is saying au revoir to Paris — for now!
Emily in Paris creator Darren Star put his titular character on an emotional rollercoaster during season 4 of the hit Netflix series — and it resulted in a normally bubbly Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) experiencing a complete and total breakdown.
“It was important to showcase more of a vulnerable side to her this season since there were so many things being thrown her way,” Collins told PEOPLE in 2024. “You can’t have your stuff together all the time.”
After choosing Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) over Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) in part 1 of season 4, Emily is faced with the harsh realities of being the third wheel to her boyfriend and his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Camille (Camille Razat). A Christmas disaster, where Gabriel leaves skiing amateur Emily alone on the slopes, results in the couple’s breakup but makes way for a meet-cute between Emily and Italian heartthrob Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
Desperate for a reprieve from her life in Paris, Emily accepts Marcello’s irresistible invitation to join him in Rome for a long weekend. A serendipitous sequence of events at the end of season 4 brings Emily a new adventure in yet another foreign city: running Agence Grateau’s Rome office.
Here’s everything to know about how season 4 of Emily in Paris ends, including which guy secures Emily’s heart.
Who does Emily end up with at the end of Emily in Paris season 4?

At the end of season 4, viewers watch as Emily finds herself falling madly in love with Marcello — the heir to an Italian luxury cashmere company called Umberto Muratori.
Emily and Marcello have their first encounter while skiing in Megève, France — after Gabriel leaves her stranded on the slopes. Marcello helps Emily get down the mountain safely before she storms off to yell at Gabriel, ultimately ending their relationship.
Following the breakup, Emily accompanies her best friend, Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), to watch her boyfriend, Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman), compete in a polo match. To Emily’s surprise, she sees Marcello on a horse and the two agree to meet before he leaves Paris for Rome.
Their romance fully blossoms after wandering the streets of Paris until sunrise. When saying goodbye at a party hosted by Agence Grateau, Marcello proposes that Emily visit him in The Eternal City.
Emily embarks on a Roman holiday, but when her boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) learns of her destination, she crashes the vacation in the hopes of landing Umberto Muratori as a client. When Sylvie abruptly asks Marcello for a meeting, he begins to question whether Emily came to Rome for him or to procure a deal.
Despite Emily tracking Marcello down in Solitano and apologizing for Sylvie’s ambitions, the “Italian Stallion,” as Mindy calls him, doesn’t have a change of heart until the final minutes of season 4.
“I don’t want to work with you Marcello, I want to be with you,” Emily says. Marcello responds with a smile and a kiss.
Emily then learns that she’ll be staying in Rome for work, and the final scene shows the couple riding off into the sunset on a Vespa, Lizzie McGuire-style.

Agence Grateau landed a six-month contract with Umberto Muratori under one condition: Emily must stay in Rome to run the account.
At the end of season 4, Emily tells Mindy that it’s “not going to be forever” and viewers watch her move into a small Italian apartment with breathtaking views of her new home.
Does Gabriel find out that Camille is not pregnant?

In part 1 of season 4, Camille learns that she isn’t pregnant. Her gynecologist suggests that one of her daily medications triggered a false-positive pregnancy test and attributed stress to her missed period.
Camille waits for what seems like weeks to tell Gabriel that she isn’t having his baby — choosing to break the news to him while they’re spending Christmas with her family in Megève.
Once back in Paris, Camille asks Gabriel to join her for lunch outside the city — a sly maneuver to introduce him to her family’s priest and discuss adoption. Understandably, Gabriel is caught off guard and says, “We’re not together. We both deserve to have a family with someone we’re in love with.”
How does Emily in Paris season 4 end for the other main characters?

In the final episodes of Emily in Paris season 4, viewers are introduced to Marcello and Genevieve (Thalia Besson) — Sylvie’s stepdaughter, an American from New York who is eager to live and work in Paris, not unlike Emily. After Sylvie gives her a job at Agence Grateau, Genevieve begins to fall for Gabriel, who does not reciprocate her feelings.
After much anticipation, Gabriel’s restaurant finally receives a Michelin Star. The news, however, is bittersweet without Emily around to celebrate. The exes play phone tag before Mindy informs a melancholy Gabriel that Emily is relocating to Rome. Having experienced losing “Cooper” to another man, Alfie encourages his friend to fight for “the greatest girl in the world.” Gabriel follows his advice and asks Mindy to tell him “exactly” where he can find Emily.
As for Mindy, she’s on the road to redemption following her breakup with Nico and losing her chance to compete at Eurovision. She happily accepts an offer to be a judge on Chinese Superstar after a video of her performing on the streets of Rome goes viral.
Season 4 also sees Camille planning to adopt a baby on her own, while Alfie is in a committed relationship with someone new.
Will there be an Emily in Paris season 5?
Stephanie Branchu/Netflix
Yes! Emily in Paris was renewed for a fifth season in September 2024.
“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” Star teased during an interview with Tudum. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris.”
He added that Emily and Marcello’s “real romantic connection” will “continue to play out next season.”
