Never getting married and practicing abstinence has worked out mighty fine for 50 Cent.
The hip-hop mogul, who revealed his vow of celibacy in January, opened up on how the lifestyle change, along with his decision never to tie the knot, has allowed him to achieve the maximum level of success.
“Listen, when you calm down you can focus,” he told Stephen Colbert during an interview on “The Late Show” Wednesday night. “I’ve been good to me.”
In promotion of his debut novel, 50 Cent recently graced the cover of US Weekly, which hyped up his vast fortune and sex-free status in cover lines.
“OK, but what’s the money for if you’re celibate?” Colbert probed, wondering why he’d want to accumulate so much cash without someone special to spend it on. “You know there’s a couple of motivating factors in our evolutionary biology, and they don’t include celibacy.”
“(Money is) when things start getting complicated, things start getting confusing because people coming for different reasons,” the rapper explained, adding that romantic desires “absolutely” cloud the judgment of “most men.”
When asked if he’s ever been married, the 49-year-old Queens native quipped: “No, no. I’m safe. I’m not a happy hostage.”
“I’m free,” he assured Colbert. “I’ve made some mistakes, just not that one.”
“I want someone I can love in my life too,” he responded. “Just not right now, I’m fine.”
The Grammy and Emmy Award winner has previously been romantically linked to actress Vivica A. Fox, comedian Chelsea Handler and OnlyFans beauty Daphne Joy.
Joy and the rapper welcomed their son, Sire, in September 2012. 50 Cent also shares 27-year-old son Marquise with former girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins.
