Team Black’s most controversial member is finally aware of all the atrocities he’s ever done.

House of the Dragon ’s season 2 has spent a long time promising its fans to arrive with a ruthless full-scale war between the Blacks and the Greens, though so far the show’s insightful plot twists seem to be putting a bloody fight off.

Episode 3 was quick to add yet another character to the list of those lamenting their actions in the past, and a surprising cameo made the whole scene shockingly impressive.

House of the Dragon’s latest episode sees Matt Smith ’s Daemon Targaryen embarking on a mission to take Harrenhal, which happens to be a key location for the Blacks’ potential win in the upcoming war.

Tormented by his recent fight with Rhaenyra who claims she can no longer trust him after that horrible murder executed by Blood and Cheese, Daemon is ready for whatever resistance he may meet in the castle, though his expectations turn out to be delusional since he’s more than welcome in Harrenhal.

Despite the castle’s eerie history that keeps reminding of itself during Daemon’s walk through it, it’s not the place’s past horrors that suddenly attack him, but rather his own flashbacks.

In a vision that Daemon has while he’s staying at Harrenhal, he suddenly finds younger Rhaenyra in one of the rooms. The camera lingers on the horrendous thing that she’s doing and shows Milly Alcock’s character sewing young Prince Jaehaerys’s head back to his body while stating that she was always the one to fix Daemon’s mistakes.

What Does Milly Alcock’s Cameo Mean For Daemon’s Arc?

According to House of the Dragon’s showrunner Ryan Condal, the scene proves that outside horrors didn’t matter that much anymore since Daemon got “haunted by these people who he had done wrong by in his past, particularly young Rhaenyra.”

Condal explained that Milly Alcock’s return as young Rhaenyra was a well elaborated element which let the viewers see Daemon “having to reckon with his past and choices that he’s made and things that he’s done.”

Though such an option still does seem very unlikely, Daemon’s sudden remorse regarding his past mistakes may force him to reconsider his actions ahead of the approaching war, in the same way that Rhaenyra herself and Alicent Hightower have been having constant second thoughts about yet another big tragedy coming up.
