Emily In Paris Season 5: Will It Happen? Everything We Know

The complete fourth season of Emily in Paris is now streaming on Netflix following the two-part release in August and September. This season found Emily navigating some of the most complex situations yet in both her personal and professional lives. Naturally, after binge-watching all of her ups and downs in season 4, fans are now wishing and hoping Emily in Paris season 5 will happen.

In Emily in Paris season 4, Emily trudged through the mess made during Gabriel and Camille’s almost-wedding, which resulted in the breakups of two couples. She tried patching things up with Alfie, but ultimately ended up in a relationship with Gabriel in part 1. However, Camille’s pregnancy created a sizable divide in their relationship, and going into part 2, tensions were extremely high.

Considering Emily in Paris remains one of Netflix’s most popular original series, renewing the romantic comedy for a fifth season seems like an obvious no-brainer. Here’s what to know so far about the potential season 5, including its renewal chances and what could happen next!

Emily in Paris season 5 is a safe bet

As mentioned above, Emily in Paris hasn’t wavered in its popularity. With the two-part release of season 4, the series has stayed put as a staple in Netflix’s daily top 10 most popular shows ranking and also ranking in the top 10 in handfuls of countries worldwide. The first five episodes of season 4 debuted with nearly 20 million views within part 1’s first four days of availability.

There’s no doubt about it: Emily in Paris season 5 should be renewed by Netflix. It’s a safe bet that the series will earn a renewal based on its enduring popularity and successful viewership. The series receives a lot of ridicule even to this day, but people are still tuning in. As long as people are watching, Netflix will likely continue to bring the series back for new seasons.

While Netflix historically announced renewals about a month or so after a show’s release, the streamer has adopted new renewal strategies, which could mean an announcement could drop at a moment’s notice. For instance, Netflix announced the double renewal for seasons 3 and 4 on Jan. 10, 2022 after the Dec. 22, 2021 release of season 2. That was less than a month and a two-season renewal. Good news could arrive anytime post-season 4 part 2.

Back in May 2024 during an Amfar charity gala at Cannes, Emily in Paris season 5 was unexpectedly teased. Paris Jackson and Winnie Harlow were on hand to present during the auction, and the prize they helped auction off was a walk-on role in the fifth season of Emily in Paris. Since then, Netflix has not addressed whether season 5 is happening, but at the time, the auction prize seemed like an unofficial soft-launch renewal.

What could (and should) happen in season 5

More so than the fact that season 5 is a safe bet based on the show’s numbers, the fourth season ended with a lot of questions left to answer. While the season finale could be viewed as an open-ended series finale that puts Emily on a new path outside of Paris, most fans likely wouldn’t be satisfied with Emily in Paris ending this way.

In the season 4 finale, Emily learns that she will be temporarily moving to Rome to open and run the new Agence Grateau office in Italy. She’s also leading the Muratori account, which will have her mixing business and pleasure yet again with her new boyfriend, Marcello. Emily seems fully content starting a new chapter in Rome with Marcello and reaching new career highs.

But Gabriel won’t go down without a fight! After officially landing his Michelin star, he realizes Emily’s the one thing missing from his life. Alfie (ironic, right?) inspires him to get her back, and in last-minute fake out, Gabriel knocks on Emily’s door in Paris, not Italy, to ask Mindy where to find her in Rome. Clearly, he’s prepared to take the next flight to Italy and repair their relationship.

Season 5 would likely take place in Rome, at least in the beginning, as Emily revels in a new relationship and job. While many of us wouldn’t mind now if Emily ended up with Marcello, the series has had a very obvious endgame in mind since day 1, and that’s Emily and Gabriel somehow, someway, ending up together. Emily in Paris needs at least one more season to effectively build up to that moment.
