The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just downright unlucky. They are already short at the wide receiver position and faced another setback in the starting moments of the game against the Atlanta Falcons in an away game. This time, Kameron Johnson suffered an injury and went to the sidelines. The only good news is that he’s walking on his own and even trying to jog it off.

Per Jenna Laine of ESPN, “Bucs wide receiver Kameron Johnson was down on the field and being attended to by trainers. He is now walking off under his own power but gingerly. The Bucs are already without Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer tonight.” If anything, this isn’t as unexpected as many people might have thought.

He missed the game against the Denver Broncos in week 3 because of the same problems. He did play against the Philadelphia Eagles, though. He’s questionable to return in the home against Atlanta after going down with another ankle injury. It’s not clear whether he exacerbated the same ankle or not.

Per Buccaneers’ post on X, “WR Kameron Johnson is Questionable to return to today’s game (ankle).” He left the field on his own power and was later seen exercising on the bike, probably trying to test his ankle out. He was just in for a single play and won’t be returning to the field. The problematic part is, the Bucs are already short of two receivers in their roster and the rookie’s injury made their situation even dire. Kameron Johnson didn’t get much time on the field in the past three games he’s played. Per ESPN, he’s got just one reception and one carry throughout the season.

However, it didn’t seem like Baker Mayfield had any problems without these receivers on the field. Luckily, he still has Mike Evans on his side. As mentioned earlier, the Bucs are missing Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer, so let’s dive into that.

Kameron Johnson adds more to the Bucs troubles

Baker Mayfield found himself playing without his two No.3 receivers Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer. The latter suffered a concussion in last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, while Jalen McMillan is nursing his hamstring injury. The Bucs head coach isn’t worried about the multiple injuries in his roster and will pummel through the season with whatever he has.

“We’ll go with what we have,” Bowles said. “We’ve been going with what we have. We have guys that stepped up. They have to step up again.” But there are other players riddled with ankle injuries, concussions and other debilitating ailments. One of those people is Antoine Winfield Jr., the All-Pro safety sidelines because of his ankle injury.Luke Goedeke (RT) and Calijah Kancey (DT/calf) are also missing from the field in the week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
