This week, Gwen Stefani wrapped up her eighth season as a coach on The Voice. The former lead singer of No Doubt first sat in her big red chair back in 2014, when she met now-husband Blake Shelton. Stefani made another impressive showing on finale night, with artist Sydney Sterlace taking third place. Shelton walked away from The Voice in May 2023 after 12 years and 23 seasons. Now, speculation has arisen that his wife may soon join him in retirement.
Gwen Stefani Wants To Spend More Time With Family, Source Says
After sitting out season 25, Gwen Stefani returned to her big red chair for season 26, alongside coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire. And according to “a source close to Team Gwen,” the “Cool” singer is considering whether this was her last time in the big red chair.
“She never outright said she was done with the show, but it seems like she’s quitting, yeah,” the source told the U.S. Sun. “She’s done, I think.” The source added “‘all signs are pointing’ to her calling it quits after a 10-year run.”
Blake Shelton was among the original coaching lineup on The Voice season 1. The “Ol’ Red” singer dominated his 12-year tenure on the show, collecting an impressive nine wins. However, Shelton has indicated in subsequent interviews that his only regret was not leaving sooner.
“It was just time for a new chapter, honestly. And I’m ready for it,” the country star, 48, told People.
Seeing her husband take a step back has Gwen Stefani rethinking her priorities, the source said.
“She really found a second home in Oklahoma and seeing Blake walk away from the show and prioritize his own music and their family life, I think, made her realize what her next chapter can look like,” they said.
Who Is Returning To ‘The Voice’ Next Season?
Michael Bublé is still basking in his first-ever victory on The Voice after Sofronio Vasquez took home the season 26 crown. And the “Feeling Good” crooner will return next year to defend his title.
Bublé will be the lone season 26 returnee, as Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg will all sit this one out. OG coach Adam Levine makes his highly-anticipated comeback after five years. Newcomer Kelsea Ballerini and season 16 champion John Legend round out the roster.
