A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Dexter Sol Ansell shares that filming has wrapped in a new video. Ansell plays Egg, who is actually Aegon V Targaryen, in the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff series that adapts George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. A Knight of the Seven Kingdom‘s cast also features Peter Claffey in the role of Ser Duncan the Tall, with the spinoff following the adventures of the duo who become pivotal in Westeros’ history.
Ansell shared the video on Instagram, where he revealed that production has wrapped after several months of filming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and bid farewell to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the filming took place. Check out the video below:
Ansell refers to the production as “a few wonderful months” and turns around to the city behind him and cheerfully says, “Bye bye, Belfast. See you soon. It’s a wrap.” He can be seen holding a framed drawing of Dunk and Egg that is shown in greater detail toward the end of the video.
What This Means For A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms
Post-Production Begins As The Spinoff Moves Toward A 2025 Release
With filming completed and one of the spinoff’s principal stars heading home, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is officially entering the post-production phase. Season 1 of the series was previously announced to be released in late 2025, and there should be no issue meeting that release date now that post-production has begun. In a video teasing their upcoming slate after the House of the Dragon season 2 ending, HBO showed the first footage of Claffey and Ansell in their respective roles as Dunk and Egg.
Ansell’s “See you soon” comment is a nod to the fact that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is planned to have more than one season in order to adapt Martin’s full Dunk and Egg trilogy. Previously, Martin confirmed the Game of Thrones spinoff will be different because it “will be a lot shorter than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much different tone.” Ansell’s time as Egg is only just beginning, as he will continue to play the role in future seasons.
Our Take On Dexter Sol Ansell’s Video
We Can’t Wait For A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms
Only about a month into the long wait for House of the Dragon season 3, it is comforting to know that another Game of Thrones spinoff is making steady progress. It is also heartwarming to see Ansell’s enthusiasm and to hear how excited he is to be part of this project and to continue being part of it. The brief footage of him as Egg was an intriguing tease, but it was wonderful to hear the actor’s voice and to see him be one of the main faces of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
