Chase Stokes is ready to end Outer Banks with a bang.

On Monday, Nov. 4, the actor, 32, who plays John B., the ringleader of the Pogues, in the beloved Netflix series, confirmed that the series will end after five seasons.

Stokes commented on the news by sharing the joint statement from co-creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke published on the show’s official accounts earlier Monday, alongside his own message.

“My hearts heavy writing this one.. One last ride. Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you ❤️,” wrote Stokes, who ended the message with “It’s always gonna be Pogues 4 Life.”

The news comes days before the second half of season 4 drops on Netflix on Thursday, Nov. 7.

According to the creators’ statement, the fourth season was the “longest and hardest but most rewarding to produce.”

“The season ends with a feature-length episode, which we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way,” the statement adds, noting that they have a mission to “bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago” during season 5.

“Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break,” the statement adds.

While speaking with PEOPLE in September, Stokes, who is set to star in the upcoming films Marked Men and Valiant One, which will be released in early 2025, credited Outer Banks as a turning point in his career.

“You can’t slap the hand that fed you,” he said. “You can’t discredit or disrespect the thing that gave you not just the opportunity, but the ability to live a life that I never thought was possible.”

He expressed his gratitude for the series, telling PEOPLE last month, “I would never mock the show that gave me the opportunity to have the life that I have. I will always be grateful for this show and for our showrunners to take a chance on a kid who had little to no credits on his resume.”

Part 2 of Outer Banks season 4 premieres Nov. 7 on Netflix.
