Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have been credited for ‘saving’ the Paris Olympics closing ceremony which took place on Sunday night.

The Olympic handover ceremony from the French capital to Los Angeles where the 2028 Games will take place ended the ceremony – with the duo giving an epic performance of their iconic hit The Next Episode on Venice Beach.

Fans lauded the musical segment after the event back in France was plagued with sound issues and dismissed as ‘artsy rubbish’.

Snoop, 52, has been delighting Olympics lovers for the last week as a commentator and cultural ambassador – and fans loved his closing performance after he jetted back to his native California.

Viewers wrote on Twitter: ‘Snoop Dogg performing at the closing ceremonies is such a perfect ending. He was such a genuine cheerleader for all Olympic events the last two weeks and now he gets to welcome the games back to his hometown.’,

‘I think we can all agree that the real winner of The Olympics is Snoop Dogg.’,

‘Thank God! @drdre & @SnoopDogg rescue and the show! Let’s go LA!’,

‘The Paris closing ceremony may have just been redeemed when the USA took over…’,

‘Sat through three hours of this closing ceremony and a load of arty rubbish – America come in and smash it out of the park in 20 mins.’,

‘That performance was crazy I can’t even lie’,

‘I’m DEFFF going to the 2028 Olympics in LA’,

‘LA28 looks like it could be special after that handover in the closing’.

It comes after BBC viewers were left questioning if the performers for the Olympics closing ceremony were lip syncing on Sunday as the competition was plagued once again by ‘awful’ sound issues.

Growing annoyed by the familiar audio issues of the completion, fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their frustration.

One penned: ‘Why is the sound quality so poor? It was the same for the opening ceremony. I can barely hear anything.’

‘The sound engineering is pretty awful.’

‘The pacing, camerawork and sound are all so bizarre!’

‘Shame the sound for the bands is a bit muted, they did try to push it but was distorted, so kept it soft and muffled. Still enjoying it. Phoenix are rocking.’

‘wtf are these sound issues, they dare do this to Billie Eilish.’

Elsewhere in the closing ceremony Hollywood legend Tom Cruise has jumped from the roof of the stadium in death-defying stunt during an extravagant handover ceremony.

The 62-year-old could be seen strapped into a harness, ready to wow the thousands of fans in Paris, as the wacky closing ceremony draws to an end.

He took up his position as the speeches concluded for his grand finale and US R ‘n’ B star H.E.R. sang and played the Stars And Stripes, American national anthem on her guitar.

The actor then rappelled down onto the ceremony stage from the roof of the Stade de France.

Cruise was handed the five-ringed Olympic flag by gymnast Simone Biles and the Mayor of LA which he loaded onto the back of a waiting motor-cycle.

Dressed in his trade-mark Top Gun black leather jacket, the action star then drove out of the arena standing up.

The switch across the Atlantic saw live performances from pop superstar Billie Eilish, LA rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop.

Then Californian natives Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop offered a taste of what is to come at the 2028 Los Angeles Games as they performed to crowds at Venice Beach.

After the Olympic flag was passed between several US Olympians, it arrived at the famous beach where the Red Hot Chili Peppers were playing their hit Can’t Stop.

The rock band then handed the stage to Eilish who delivered a sweet rendition of her new track Birds Of A Feather while dressed in an oversized T-shirt, shorts and baseball cap.
