The 2024 WNBA draft’s overall 7th pick may have been overshadowed by Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. But that wouldn’t be for long. Angel Reese is making her own mark off the court with the massive endorsement deals. On August 21st, “Chi-Town Barbie” revealed her latest collaboration with a confectionery company. For Reese, this is a huge accomplishment, especially since she had been eagerly anticipating this for the past four years. Now that she’s made it, even her teammate is getting a little greedy.
On August 22nd, Chicago Sky guard Diamond DeShields took to her official Instagram account and reposted Angel’s newest partnership with a demand. “Imma need a bag of thins stat @Angel Reese,“ she wrote, throwing a lighthearted joke at the 22-year-old. It seems DeShields is ecstatic about Reese’s new collaboration with “Reese’s”—a name that only seems logical now that it’s officially announced.
Reese’s new partnership has unveiled a limited edition of jerseys featuring her name, signature logo, and jersey number. Now, you might be thinking, jerseys with a confectionary company? There’s a reason behind it. For Reese, releasing a jersey is quite obvious, but to relate it to her recent endorsement, it has been produced in the color scheme (orange and yellow) of Reese’s confectionery.
In fact, the new release also features custom tees, hats, and cropped shirts with peanut butter cups and the Chicago Sky rookie’s unique insignia. Her fans will have the chance to try all these items from three drops, and it seems DeShields would be among the first ones to try them out. But do you know who made this deal possible for Reese?
A first-of-its-kind deal celebration with Reese
While it’s quite normal for professionals to entrust the task of inking branding deals to their agents, in Angel Reese’s case, the decision was truly fan-driven. “The fans really made it happen,” Reese told Boardroom. “This collection is for my Reese’s Pieces… They’ve been with me every step of the way, and the design elements bring together things that I love: basketball, style, and of course, Reese’s,” she wrote in a statement.
Well, the contribution to securing this deal isn’t just limited to fans. The 22-year-old Maryland native’s fire independent manager/agent has also played a vital role. “I’ve been trying to get this deal for 4 YEARS! Without an agency…I appreciate the fan support but @JeanineJuliano DID THIS! Anyway, we MOVE! HAPPY REESE’S PIECES DAYYY,” Reese said on X.
This is a groundbreaking achievement as it’s a fan-inspired collaboration, and even Hershey’s calls it a “first of its kind” deal. As of now, the prices for this merchandise will start at $39 and will be available in three different waves. The Sky rookie’s website has all the answers.
