TAYLOR Swift plans to take the heat off Travis Kelce by skipping the Kansas City Chiefs road games.

The Cruel Summer singer opted at the last minute not to watch her boyfriend take on the LA Chargers the previous weekend as his early-season slump continued.

Swift has loved attending as many NFL games as possible since starting to date the three-time Super Bowl winner.

But The U.S Sun has spoken to a well-placed source who revealed Swift will “most likely only go to home games for the next few weeks when her schedule allows her to.”

With her blockbuster Eras tour gearing up for a North American return later this month, the superstar has enough on her plate in the final few months of the year.

And although she has been “loving” cheering on Andy Reid’s so far unbeaten Chiefs over the past 12 months, the fear of heaping more pressure onto Kelce’s shoulders is forcing a retreat into the shadows – for now.

“Taylor wants to keep it low key to protect Travis from possible extra criticism,” the insider told The U.S. Sun.

“She loves him and knows that he will bounce back, but she is ready to skip some games so he doesn’t have to deal with more pressure.”

Kelce, 34, has failed to ignite his magical partnership with quarter-back Patrick Mahomes so far this campaign – he has made his worst-ever start to a season and takes on New Orleans next Monday, still waiting for his first touchdown.

Swift has been trying to lift his spirits, and the source added, “This rough patch for Travis on the field is something that she wants to help with him, even if it’s not coming to some games.”

The source added that the decision to skip the 17-10 win over the Chargers came at the last minute.

“Taylor and Travis talked the day before the game in Los Angeles, and she decided not to make it so as not to bring any unnecessary attention,” said the insider.

“There is an extra spotlight on him because of his poor performances on the field and the criticism received since the start of the season.”

“They are confident he will bounce back.”

The bounce back may already be underway for Kelce. After having a horrendous start to the year, he had his first solid game on Sunday against the Chargers.

After having just eight catches for 69 yards through the first three weeks of the season, Kelce caught seven passes for 89 yards on Sunday.

Kelce is still on pace for the worst season of his career, but the increased yardage is a good sign that he is on the right track.

‘Well-talked-about personal life’

Travis Kelce was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift during an interview with Good Morning America.

But the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave a cagey response.

“When you have good family and friends around you, it makes that aspect of life that much easier,” Kelce told GMA.

“I’ve always been a very grounded guy. It might not come off that way when I’m playing football.

“But off the field, I just want to be a genuine person. I try not to get too far down the road.

“Because you never know what opportunities are going to present themselves.”

He will also likely see increased usage now that the Chiefs are without wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Rice hurt his knee in the Chiefs 17-10 win over the Chargers on Sunday, and it is feared that he tore his ACL.

Without Rice, Kelce is Mahomes’ top receiving option outside of rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Worthy has shown flashes of being a top wide receiver, but still has some polishing to do around the edges.

With pep talks from Swift and confidence from his quarterback, Kelce should continue to put up better performances as the season goes on.
