Keanu Reeves put so much of his heart, soul, and body into the making of the John Wick movies that it literally made him sick.

At a screening and Q&A event in Los Angeles on Sunday honoring the 10-year anniversary of the first film, Reeves revealed he actually puked while shooting some of the action scenes.

“Every day is a gift,” Reeves said. “I had so many wonderful teachers and guidance and worked with so many talented actors, actresses, and stunt people in the sense of it’s such a dance and collaboration and cooperation. There’s a couple of times where you throw up or puke or whatever, but that’s what makes it good.”

At the end of the conversation, director Chad Stahelski also teased that there’s more John Wick coming in the future in addition to the upcoming spinoff movie Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and featuring Reeves in his last onscreen appearance as the titular dog-loving killer. Yeah, are we thinking he’s back?

“We have a few things coming up, some surprises, some not,” Stahelski said. “We have a documentary coming out about the making of all the John Wicks.”

The John Wick franchise began in 2014 when Reeves’ retired assassin got back in the bloody game to get revenge on the Russian gangsters (led by Game of Thrones‘ Alfie Allen) who killed his dog. The renowned killer known as the Baba Yaga returned to wreak more violent havoc for three more movies: 2017’s John Wick: Chapter 2, 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, and 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4.

John Wick was a box office hit, grossing $86 million after being made on a $20-30 million budget (thanks to Eva Longoria secretly funding it at the last minute), and the sequels have been massively profitable too, with John Wick: Chapter 4 earning a staggering $440 million over a $100 million budget.

And year-old spoiler alert, but the franchise didn’t end when John died at the end of the fourth film, as prequel TV series The Continental: From the World of John Wick premiered on Peacock later that same year. Plus, Ballerina, set in the time between the third and the fourth movie, is scheduled to hit theaters June 6, 2025.

“I got to work with Ana de Armas, and the director Len Wiseman, and they had a great script, and John Wick has a small part to play in it,” Reeves previously told EW. “Len Wiseman was cool. He was like, ‘Where do you want to pitch this story in [the] timeline?’ So, it takes place between chapter 3 and chapter 4 of the John Wick stories. It was fun to put the suit back on.”
