Miriam Margolyes: A New Australian Adventure, 9.00pm, BBC Two
Miriam Margolyes is in her London home, recovering from a recent heart procedure which has left her feeling more vulnerable.
In a bid to adapt to this ‘new Miriam’, she returns to Australia, a place she considers her second home – and a country that, for her, still holds the promise of fun, inspiration and a better future.
Her first stop is Perth, the capital of Western Australia, where she meets a host of local characters, gets out of her comfort zone, and learns from people carving their own paths to success.
New or Returning Shows
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, 10.30pm, Sky Max
This is the third spin-off of the TV franchise based on the smash-hit graphic novels by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore.
The series finds fan favourite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) washing up on the shores of France, having been kidnapped from America for unknown reasons.
After managing to escape the ship he was brought onto, Daryl finds himself in the country that’s home to the source of the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse.
Now he needs to figure out a way to get home.
Encountering paramilitary group Pouvoir des Vivants (Power of the Living) and a friendly nun from Union de L’Espoir (Union of Hope) along the way, Daryl needs to keep his wits about him if he ever has a chance to make it back to America.
This is made even worse by the evolved Walkers he encounters – including a variant called ‘burners’ that spit acid.

Sir Cliff Richard at the BBC, 10.05pm, BBC Four
A trio of programmes featuring Cliff Richard (below) opens with a look back through the BBC archives at some of the singer’s most memorable performances and biggest hits.
That’s followed at 11.05pm by Cliff in London, featuring highlights from a Cliff Richard concert recorded during his 1980 season at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London.
Then at midnight there’s Cliff Richard: Live at the Albert Hall, a concert by the singer at the illustrious venue accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing songs including Miss You Nights, We Don’t Talk Anymore, Carrie, True Love Ways and Devil Woman.
West Side Story, 9.35pm, RTÉ One
Steven Spielberg’s version of the hit 1957 musical, starring Rachel Zegler, Ansel Elgort and an Oscar-winning Ariana DeBose.
It’s a colourful and exuberant version that makes a quality companion piece to the classic black and white version made back in 1961.
In 1950s’ New York, tensions between feuding gangs are inflamed when Jets co-founder Tony, recently released from prison, defies best friend Riff and falls for Maria, sister of Sharks leader Bernardo.
Romance blossoms as Riff and Bernardo convene their tribes for a rumble to decide whether Americans or Puerto Ricans rule the roost.
BBC Proms, 8.00pm, BBC Four
The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Nicholas Collon and Petroc Trelawny presents another top night at the Proms as Messiaen’s Turangalila Symphony is performed at the Royal Albert Hall.
The programme also includes a world premiere of Anna Clyne’s The Gorgeous Nothings, inspired by the poems of Emily Dickinson and featuring Grammy Award-winning vocal group The Swingles.

Cowboy Cartel, Apple TV+
This four-part documentary tells the unbelievable true story of hero Scott Lawson, a rookie FBI agent from rural Tennessee whose investigation took down the Treviño brothers, leaders of a powerful cartels in Mexico.
While the Treviños terrorized thousands in their pursuit of power, money and influence, Lawson risked his life on a hunch: tracking their brother’s racehorse transactions in the United States, infiltrating the deadly cartel and uncovering their international money laundering operations.
Director Wes Ball is the latest to have a go at this now typically bloated franchise with this action-adventure spectacle.

Athletics takes centre stage for the first time at the Paris Games this morning, and the diving and rowing competitions continue on day seven.
The Stade de France is the venue for the start of the athletics, with the decathlon 100m at 9.05am, the men’s hammer qualification from 9.10am, the women’s high jump qualification from 9.15am, the women’s 100m preliminary round at 9.35am, the decathlon long jump at 9.55am, round one of the men’s 1500m at 10.05am, round one of the women’s 100m at 10.50am and the decathlon shot put from 11.15am.
