'The Rings of Power' Have Recast Its Main Villain! Here's Why!

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season, whose eight episodes will premiere later this year, as we have reported on multiple occasions.

Regardless of everything, the series remains one of the most talked-about events of its season, and while many have voiced their concerns about the show, the interest is still there, and that is why we are constantly reporting on all the news and updates that come out, related to the upcoming season.

The most recent piece of news we have for you is related to one of the major villains from Season 1, Adar, who is a mysterious figure loved by the fans. He was played by Joseph Mawle in Season 1, but we can confirm that the upcoming season will see a new actor take on the role.

While some fans might be surprised by this development, we can actually confirm that Mawle’s departure from the series was announced after Season 1, when the actor himself confirmed that he wanted to “explore new characters and worlds,” as per his Twitter account:

We don’t know whether something happened during filming. Mawle might have simply disliked the role, he might have wanted to – as he said – explore other opportunities and not be tied down to one role, or something might have happened during filming. We don’t know, but be that as it may, Mawle’s departure has been a known fact for a while now.

But, who is replacing him? Well, that information was also revealed officially, as we know that Sam Hazeldine will take over the role of Mawle for Season 2, and that is what we can confirm officially.

But, regardless of this change, we can confirm that Adar will have a much smaller role in the upcoming season. Yes, the second season will be more focused on the villains than the heroes, but Adar will make way for Sauron, who is definitely going to be the focus of the upcoming season.

In terms of what we can expect from Adar, we just hope that the series will reveal more background information and that he won’t end up being just another stock character, since the enigma surrounding him and his goals is certainly something that we want to see resolved.

This is what we have at this point, but be sure to keep following us for all the latest news and updates!
