‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, has sparked significant controversy. Critics have pointed to its perceived “wokeness” and the surprising lack of quality despite a $180 million budget.
However, ‘The Acolyte’ isn’t the only live-action Star Wars release on the horizon. ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is also set to premiere in late 2024, according to recent updates.
Recently, there has been little buzz around ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,’ with only a few marketing materials released so far. Fans are questioning the lack of promotion and the prolonged development period of the show.
‘Skeleton Crew’ is expected to be a coming-of-age story featuring a group of children, likely Force-sensitive, who embark on an adventure to return to their home planet after getting lost following a mysterious discovery. Jude Law’s character is set to play a crucial role as their guide and mentor throughout their journey.
Recent insider reports suggest that the show is not being well received internally at Lucasfilm, which could explain the sparse marketing and the show’s troubled development.
‘Skeleton Crew’ according to @TheRochaSays isn’t being received very well at Lucasfilm.
This echoes similar statements made by both myself and @MakingStarWars. We’ve been saying/hearing similar things for a long time – certainly since last year.

Fans have quickly begun speculating about the reasons behind the issues. Many are concerned that a live-action kids’ show may not be what Star Wars needs right now and might not be the best approach to “healing” the franchise.
Others are questioning whether the problems with ‘Skeleton Crew’ stem from identity politics, or perhaps a lack of it.
Not enough identity politics 🤔

Oh, great. I mean I don’t know who this show is even aimed at, the cast is mostly kids. If it’s like the Goonies or something it could be interesting but I doubt most people are gonna be that excited

But the pure and vile garbage that was The Acolyte was approved by Lucasfilm.
Ehm… I do not know what to think about this… other than… it will not bring SW back, regardless of what turns out to be.

Naturally, many fans have interpreted Lucasfilm executives’ dissatisfaction with ‘Skeleton Crew’ as a sign that the show might actually be good, considering they also approved ‘The Acolyte.’
Regardless of the truth behind these rumors, it’s clear that expectations for ‘Skeleton Crew’ are quite low. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
