During the Rolling Loud Europe festival in Austria this weekend, Ice Spice played a Taylor Swift song over the speakers, and some in the crowd didn’t enjoy it
Ice Spice had a message for Taylor Swift’s haters.
The New York rapper was performing at Rolling Loud Europe in Austria on Sunday and a video from her set has gone viral. During her performance, the speakers started to play Karma by Taylor Swift.
But when the song played at Rolling Loud Europe, people in the crowd didn’t react how Ice could have wanted. People started booing and giving thumbs-down gestures, to which Ice responded to with grace.
She blew a kiss at the haters and smiled at them as she went on with her show. With this small gesture, Ice proved she was a good friend.
Ice was featured on the remix of Karma, which was released on Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) last year. Taylor brought Ice out to perform the remixed song with her during the Eras Tour in New Jersey and the two were spotted at various football games cheering on Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Taylor was seen at Coachella this past April supporting Ice’s performance. The two also attended the 2023 Video Music Awards together.
Taylor talks highly of Ice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston. In a Spotify audio clip where Taylor gave background on her songs, she said: “Collaborating with Ice Spice on ‘Karma’ was one of the most natural things.”
“She reached out through her team, just kind of saying, ‘Hey, Ice has been a big fan of Taylor’s since she was a little kid, would love to collaborate if that was ever something that came about,’ ” she continued.
Ice has also been vocal about her love of Taylor. She said: “When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget that. She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine.'”
The rapper has been coy about if Taylor is going to appear on her upcoming debut album, Y2K!, that’s out later this month. She told Entertainment Tonight that Taylor “did her the favor” and added: “But I don’t know. Let’s see, let’s see, let’s see.”
