Fox News’ Janice Dean Gives Health Update on MS Fight: “I Call It the ‘Invisible Disease,’ ‘Oh My God, You Look So Great’”

Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean recently provided an update on her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis (MS) in honor of World MS Day on May 30. Taking to Twitter, Dean shared an uplifting video to raise awareness and offer encouragement to others living with the disease.

“I wanted to, you know, let you know that MS really doesn’t present itself in a lot of ways,” Dean explained in her video message. “I call it the ‘invisible illness,’ the ‘My, you look so well’ disease because we can be looking fine, I got my hair and makeup done, but inside of us, our body is attacking its central nervous system, the brain, and the spine.”

Diagnosed in 2005, Dean has been open about her journey with MS for nearly two decades. She has consistently shared her experiences, therapies, and challenges with her audience, hoping to provide support and raise awareness about the condition.

Struggles Behind the Scenes

Dean highlighted the challenges of living with MS, describing a recent flare-up she experienced. “Yesterday, I felt almost like a sunburn sensation at the back of my neck. I felt it overnight last night. I didn’t sleep well, and I’m feeling it again today,” she shared with her followers.

Despite the difficulties, Dean remains dedicated to her work, often appearing cheerful and energetic on Fox & Friends. “So even though we look okay on the surface, I’ve got my hair and my makeup done, I’m smiling on Fox & Friends, inside can be quite a challenge and what it feels like,” she said.

Her message resonated with many, especially fellow MS warriors who understand the invisible struggles of the disease. Dean emphasized the importance of community and support, stating, “Together, I think we are stronger, and I think even if we don’t have a cure for this, there is certainly the hope that we can stop the progression altogether, which would be wonderful.”

Hope for the Future

Dean remains optimistic about advancements in MS treatment. “There are new therapies out there, there are promising things on the horizon,” she said. “And that’s why I am saying today that I am still hopeful — even though I don’t feel great — and that it’s important to raise awareness, and I will continue to do so.”

Following her initial post, Dean provided an update on May 31, revealing that she had visited her doctor to address her recent symptoms. “And here’s my update: went to doc’s yesterday. New MRI’s will be done, a course of steroids to help with pain and more tests to see why I’m having a flare-up. Feeling a bit better today. We have to keep moving. Thanks for all the love and prayers, everyone,” she wrote on Instagram.

Dean’s openness and resilience continue to inspire her audience. Through her candid discussions about MS, she not only raises awareness but also provides hope to those facing similar challenges. As she continues her battle with the disease, her determination and advocacy serve as a beacon of strength for the MS community.
