Back for its 26th season, The Voice has kicked off the Battle Rounds. Coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani have packed their teams and now must begin whittling down this year’s pool of talent. And it looked like Sloane Simon’s journey had come to a premature end when coach Gwen Stefani selected Sydney Sterlace over her. However, much to the 20-year-old’s shock, all of Stefani’s fellow coaches jumped on the chance to steal Simon.

“Mommy” Gwen Stefani Has to Choose Between “Her Daughters”

Monday’s (Oct. 20) episode of the Battle Rounds saw Sloane Simon squaring off against fellow Team Gwen member Sydney Sterlace, 15, in a soaring performance of Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather.”

X/Twitter user Robert Anton praised Simon’s “control” and “beautiful transitions,” but added that Sterlace was “embodying the lyric.”

When the performance wrapped up, Stefani faced an impossible choice. “How can a mommy choose between her daughters?” lamented the “Hollaback Girl” singer.

“Well, I’m the dad, and that’s not my decision,” retorted Snoop Dogg.

Ultimately, Stefani honored “this really weird voice inside me” and chose Sterlace. Several X/Twitter users expressed their displeasure with the decision. “All of y’all GOT TO GO LISTEN TO ‘Crash Into Me” by sloane simon – She needs to be wayyyy more popular!!” one X/Twitter user commented.

So What Became of Sloane Simon on ‘The Voice?’

It looked like the end of Sloane Simon’s journey on The Voice, but that didn’t last long. The three remaining coaches—Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg—all smashed their buttons, signaling they would like to steal the 20-year-old Pittsburgh artist.

Now, Simon was the one facing a tough decision. “I admire all of you so much,” she said, “but I’m going to have to go with Michael.”

An ecstatic Bublé praised Simon, calling her “a pop star in the making.”

The Battle Rounds continue Tuesday (Oct. 22), wrapping up Nov. 4.
