Wilson was named the Steelers’ starting quarterback at the start of the season, but was forced out of the opening game with a calf injury.

The former Seahawk and Bronco was made inactive and wouldn’t enter the game at all, but he still wore pads on the sideline during the entire game.

Fans got a good laugh out of Wilson wearing his pads despite never being an option to play.

“Russell Wilson wearing shoulder pads despite being inactive might be the ultimate Russell Wilson moment,” one fan said.

“Dress for the job you want to have,” another fan said.

“Don’t forget the eye black,” a third fan said.

“Next, he’ll be practicing Hail Marys in his driveway,” a fourth fan said.

“I’m still struggling with having to root for him after making fun of him for so long,” a fifth fan said.

While Wilson was named the starter to begin the season, the Steelers may rethink that decision going forward.

Backup quarterback Justin Fields helped lead the Steelers to an upset win over the Falcons.

Fields played a clean game for the Steelers, completing 17 of 23 passes for 156 yards.

He didn’t manage to throw a touchdown, but he didn’t throw any interceptions either.

Fields was able to utilize his legs as well, running for 57 yards on the day.

“I just came in wanting a win, and I’m glad that we’re leaving here with a win,” Fields said.

“So in terms of who’s starting, who’s not, all I want to do is win at the end of the day. I’m really not even going to get into all of that.

“At the end of the day, I came here to win. No matter if I was going to throw for 300 yards, 100 yards, no yards, I came here to win. So that’s the only focus I had.”

The Steelers didn’t score any touchdowns, but kicked six field goals on their way to an 18-10 win over the Falcons.

While Fields had a great game for the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin won’t commit to a starter for their next game.

“You can come ask me that question on Tuesday,” he said.
