Out of the rivalries in the league, the Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints are one of the most violent. More than 50 years have passed, but the rage and vigor are still intact. And occasionally, it boils up, leaving casualties behind. The NFL South rivals hate each other to the ‘e‘. We got to see it firsthand during the matchup between the Dirty Birds and The Ain’ts on the 29th of September.

While players of both teams were battling it out on the field, fans started their battle in the stands. A Falcon fan pulled down a Saints supporter and repeatedly kicked him on the head, nearly killing him. Several women also got injured in various fights that broke out in different areas of the stands. Another chapter in the book of The Brotherhood vs Who Dat Nation!

The iconic Mercedes-Benz Stadium has seen many such fights. In September 2022, fans of both teams got into a brawl. What started with an argument soon swirled into a fistfight. A Saints fan pushed a Falcons fan and suddenly, several Falcons fans pounded on him, kicking him.

The Atlanta Falcons have never won a Super Bowl. And Saints fans often mock them for having ‘no ring.’ But today, they (Falcons) emerged victorious. This was a shocker for the rivals. And the violence, which ensued, was expected. The rowdy fans sometimes take the game too seriously.

While the stadium was a gladiator arena, the field was nothing less than that.

What happened in the Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints week 4 game?

The game was changing every few minutes, which made the fans even more anxious. The Falcons’ KhaDarel Hodge opened the scoring with a touchdown in the first quarter, but before the quarter ended, the Saints equaled it, courtesy of Taysom Hill‘s TD. The Ain’ts cruised ahead with a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. However, the Dirty Birds scored a field goal followed by a touchdown, finishing 17-14 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, both teams scored a field goal each, taking the score to 20-17. In the 4th quarter, everyone was on the edge of their seats. The stadium was pumped up. The Falcons went up by 23-20, courtesy of Younghoe Koo‘s field goal. But the Saints’ Alvin Kamara scored a touchdown, taking them to 24-23. With 7 seconds left on the clock, Falcons camp was stiff.

Koo scored a 58-yard goal, the longest in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, took them to 26-24 and gave them their 2nd win in 4 games. Crazy! What we saw in the audience was a release of that rage and anger.

Though the game was intense, such brawls do bring infamy to the league. What do you think? Stay connected to more news!
