Rice was having a stellar start to this season, catching 24 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns through the Chiefs’ first three games.

However, disaster struck during his Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

After Patrick Mahomes threw an interception, both Rice and Mahomes went after the defender with the ball.

Rice somehow forced the defender to fumble, but Mahomes missed his tackle and ended up barreling into Rice’s knee.

The 24-year-old was left in serious pain, and had to be carted off the field after being left unable to put pressure on his knee.

It is feared that Rice tore his ACL, but there is no official confirmation yet on his injury.

While fans are waiting on word of Rice’s injury, he has posted an update on his on in the form of an Instagram Story.

Rice posted a caption that read “When people ask where my strength comes from,” with a picture of SpongeBob that added “The Lord.”

Many fans didn’t interpret this as a good sign for Rice’s healthy, and shared their thoughts on social media.

“When they start saying their strength is in the lord, it is usually not a good thing,” one fan said.

“That’s either a really good thing, or a really bad thing. There’s no in-between with a post like that,” another fan said.

“Yeah he might not have a leg anymore,” a third fan said.

“Yeah, this means he’s done for the season,” a fourth fan said.

“Man can’t even tell if this is a greatest scenario possible or the worst scenario!” a fifth fan said.

Without Rice on the roster, the Chiefs will have to lean on Travis Kelce and rookie Xavier Worthy to support Mahomes.

Chiefs injury crisis

The Chiefs saw wide receiver Rashee Rice taken off on the back of a medical cart at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Kansas City was already without free agency signing wide receiver Hollywood Brown (shoulder) and starting running back Isiah Pacheco (fractured fibula).

Both are set to miss large parts of the 2024 NFL season.

Speaking after Sunday’s win over the LA Chargers sent them to 4-0, Mahomes said, “All we can do now is go back to the basics and try to get guys opportunities to succeed.

“The guys stepped up and filled in as good as they can the role that Rice has in our offense, which is a big one.”

Kelce is finally starting to break out after a plodding start to the season. He caught seven passes for 89 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 4 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

That was more yards than he managed in the first three weeks of the season.

Worthy is having a solid start to his rookie season, already scoring three touchdowns.

He has 154 yards in the air and 39 yards on the ground, and will likely step into the role of the Chiefs’ No. 1 receiver with Rice out.

The Chiefs face off against the Saints in the next game, and fans will get their first look at how the offense fares without Rice.
