Nacua signed with the Saints this offseason after spending 2023 in the UFL with the Michigan Panthers.
He had 11 receptions for 125 yards with the Panthers.
Nacua previously spent time in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of BYU.
In college, Nacua played four years at Utah before transferring to BYU for his final season where he had 21 catches for 329 yards and three touchdowns.
Nacua broke out with the Saints during this preseason, mainly as a return specialist.
He had one of the highlights of the preseason when he returned a missed field goal for 106 yards before just missing out on a touchdown.
Nacua also caught two passes for 19 yards as a receiver, but his performance wasn’t enough for the Saints to keep him on the roster.
Fans lamented the Saints’ decision to cut Nacua, and shared where he should go next.
“Samson nacua was 3 yards away from making the roster,” one fan said.
“@jerod_mayo51 Yo coach if you reading this, if Samson Nacua clears waivers. TAKE HIM!” another fan said.
“Why did we release Samson Nacua,” a third fan said.
“Saints are dumb, he’ll be picked up by another team for sure… Samson Nacua, future Minnesota Viking,” a fourth fan said.
“I was really hoping he would make the 53 man roster. I am sure he will be a PS guy if available,” a fifth fan said.
While Samson was unable to make the Saints’ roster, his brother Puka is firmly cemented as a top receiver in the NFL.
