AKeanu Reeves crime thriller has become a streaming success six years later. Reeves is a divisive actor who achieved success after his breakthrough role in the 1989 time travel comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and became a superstar after leading the Wachowskis’ 1999 sci-fi blockbuster The Matrix. His performance style has been divisive, as he has earned nine Razzie award nominations, followed by a Razzie Redeemer Award nomination and a spot at No. 4 on the New York Times‘ list of the greatest actors of the 21st century.

While he is best known for his action roles in titles such as Speed, the Matrix franchise, and the John Wick franchise, Keanu Reeves movies have taken on a huge variety of genres. This includes starring opposite his Speed co-star Sandra Bullock in the time travel romance The Lake House, playing Jonathan Harker in the Francis Ford Coppola horror movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula, taking on the role of Don John in the 1993 Shakespeare adaptation Much Ado About Nothing, and more.

Siberia Has Found New Streaming Success

The Keanu Reeves Movie Climbed A Major Chart

Keanu Reeves’ Siberia has climbed a major streaming chart. The 2018 crime thriller movie, which debuted between the releases of the second and third John Wick movies, was poorly reviewed, earning 12% from critics and 16% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Its commercial performance is unknown, because it only had a limited theatrical run before its VOD release. It starred Reeves as a diamond seller who gets caught up in criminal dealings in Russia, a story penned by Oscar-nominated A Simple Plan screenwriter Scott Smith and brought to the screen by Frank & Lola director Matthew Ross.

The cast of Siberia also included Ana Ularu, Pasha D. Lychnikoff, Veronica Ferres, and Molly Ringwald.

During the week of November 15, Siberia climbed up the Paramount+ Top 10 chart in the United States, finding a second life on streaming. It landed at No. 7 on the streaming service’s movie chart. It was the highest-ranked non-holiday movie on the chart to be released before the 2020s, as it was behind only this year’s Transformers One (No. 1), IF (No. 2), and A Quiet Place: Day One (No. 6), 2023’s Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie (No. 3), 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick (No. 5), and the seasonal title Bad Santa (No. 4).

Our Take On The Siberia Streaming Success

Keanu Reeves Is Connecting Even More With Audiences In 2024

It seems likely that Siberia is making more of a splash on streaming more than half a decade after its release because Keanu Reeves’ star has only risen in the meantime. While he has been a notable actor since the 1990s, since the movie’s release, the John Wick star has gone on to appear in two more movies in the iconic action franchise, the legacy sequels Bill & Ted Face the Music and The Matrix Resurrections, the record-breaking Pixar sequel Toy Story 4, and the Netflix rom-com Always Be My Maybe, in which he played himself.
