The brothers most recently put that support on display during an episode of their New Heights podcast that was released just hours before the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Swift, 34, is nominated for 12 awards at this year’s ceremony and could potentially make VMAs history if she wins enough new trophies.
During Wednesday’s New Heights episode, the brothers revealed that this week’s “New News” segment was presented by the VMAs. They urged listeners to tune in for the awards show as Travis, 34, said “hopefully” his girlfriend “can walk away with a few” of the awards.
“Let’s go, Tay,” Jason, 36, said. “Come on, Tay!”
While Travis also applauded the “Cruel Summer” songstress’ nominations, he said he was “Wishing everybody the best though.”
Jason then cut in to say, “Unless you’re up against Tay. Then I hope you lose.”
When the podcast’s official Instagram account later shared a clip from the segment on Instagram Stories along with a countdown to the 2024 MTV VMAs, fans interpreted it as a clear sign of the brothers proudly declaring their support for Swift.
One fan shared a screenshot on X, formerly Twitter, of New Heights’ countdown, writing, “oh yeah it’s so endgame.”
“I mean they are being sponsored but also the co-branding is so endgame and making me emotional,” another X user agreed.
“I wonder if MTV anticipated they would turn the ad read into a Taylor fan post lol. I’m guessing probably 😂,” a fan laughed.
“I mean they figured out a way to get paid for endorsing Taylor,” one X user wrote, adding that they thought the move was “genius.”
“I LOVE THEM???” one fan wrote of the “two taywarriors!!!” as another begged, “stoppp so cute.”
At the time the episode dropped, it was still unclear whether Swift planned to attend the ceremony, though she did show up and was photographed arriving to the event solo. Her 12 nominations make her the top-nominated artist at this year’s event, putting her in a position where she could potentially break Beyoncé’s record for the most VMA trophies won by a solo artist. Swift had a total of 23 VMAs heading into Wednesday night’s ceremony, while Beyoncé had 30. Queen Bey is also nominated for three awards at this year’s show.
