Brian Daboll‘s decision on the field today finally caught up with him. The Head Coach for the New York Giants was loaded up with questions from reporters after his team lost a GAME that they could have tied, if not won. Graham Gano, the kicker for the team, had earlier been put on injury report due to a groin injury. During the match against Washington, Gano suffered a new injury.
This was when Daboll had a choice to elevate a kicker from the practice team. Had he done this, the Giants would have had a greater chance to score field goals rather than missing all of it. And now, Daboll seems to regret his decision while shutting down reporters questioning what went down on the field.
Instead of elevating a kicker from the practice team, Daboll’s call was to leave all the kicks during the rest of the game after Gano pulled his hamstring. This happened when he was chasing down the receiver from the Washington Commanders.
When arguing with reporters about the nature of the injury, Daboll made it clear that Gano injured his hamstring during the match, not his groin. Somebody then questioned him about the same. The agitated head coach replied, “I’m not a doctor.”
This was perhaps his way of showing that he was not going to entertain any more questions from the media regarding the injury. However, the discussion went a little further, and Brian admitted, “All the decisions that are made are mine.” Despite the sense of accountability, some are going to be disappointed because Daboll was expected to do better this season.
Brian Daboll didn’t fulfill ex-MLB star’s expectations
Before the regular season kicked off, Nelson Figueroa gave his two cents on the team’s situation on Pix11. According to him, the team had no ‘excuses’ to make if they failed at redeeming their reputation in the new season. Since Daboll had clearly announced his major involvement with calling the shots, he couldn’t blame it on anyone else. However, what he also wanted to imply was that the Giants were expected to do better moving forward. While the HC has been owning up to every consequence of his decisions on the field, the Giants still haven’t been able to redeem their game.
The score for the latest game against the Commanders wasn’t nearly as humiliating as it was during the New Yorkers’ season opener. When they faced the Minnesota Vikings, the scoreboard spoke for itself. Daboll’s team lost to the Vikings 6-28. What followed was nightmarish for a team recognized by the National Football League. There was a brief meme trend on the internet that this humbling loss had eliminated the Giants from the playoffs already. This was obviously a joke to take a cheeky dig at the team’s horrible play during the game.
Brian Daboll is responsible for the ongoing losing streak as much as the rest of the team.
