Black Summer season 2 ends with a cliffhanger, which raises questions about the fate of Rose, played by Jaime King, and her daughter, Anna (Zoe Marlett). The Netflix prequel show also teases a new storyline involving the North Korean character Sun (Christine Lee), and could potentially build to the focal events in the companion show Z Nation, a Syfy series that aired for five seasons from 2014 to 2018.

In Black Summer season 2, Rose and Anna settle on a mountain home after the events of season 1. Based on these images, Black Summer season 3 could potentially follow Anna as the lead protagonist. Since she appears ready to lead, it’s possible that she may find a way to treat and safely transport Rose – but where to? As for Nazeri, it’s unclear how he will react if he manages to survive, which makes him a wildcard character for the next round of episodes.
