BAKER Mayfield is making sure people know that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are better with him as quarterback.

In a recent press conference, Mayfield called out Tom Brady’s tenure in Tampa Bay and explained how he is doing things better.

Brady leaving the NFL allowed Mayfield to join the Buccaneers as his fourth team, and he has revived his career with the team.

It appears that Baker has gotten comfortable in his position after a successful year, and he started sharing secrets from when Brady was in town.

“You hear some of the stories about if he didn’t like a certain play call and he didn’t like it throughout the week and they still call it in the game,” Mayfield said on the Casa De Klub podcast.

“There might have been a throwaway on purpose or throwing it at the running back or receiver’s feet.

“There’s a lot of mind games going on.”

Brady of course won the Buccaneers a Super Bowl in the 2020 season and is the greatest quarterback of all time, so the team probably didn’t care how he acted in the building.

“The building was a little bit different with Tom in there,” Mayfield said.

“Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialed in, high-strung environment, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out.”

Mayfield has already found playoff success with the Buccaneers though, winning the NFC South and making a wild card game.

Mayfield took down the Philadelphia Eagles in that game, passing for 337 yards and three touchdowns.

They lost in the divisional round to the Detroit Lions 31-23, but it was a huge sign that Mayfield could be the team’s new quarterback of the future.

He was rewarded after that playoff run with a three-year, $100 million contract to remain as the Buccaneers quarterback.

That contract is already looking like it is going to pay off, as Mayfield has the team at 2-0 to start the season.

They beat the Washington Commanders to open up the year and then got their revenge for the playoff loss by beating the Lions in Week 2.
