It was understood the 25-year-old would miss between six to eight weeks with the problem.

But head coach Reid has admitted his RB could miss the remainder of the season, in a huge blow to the Chiefs.

“I can’t give you a time when he’ll return”, Reid said.

“We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.

“We’ll see how he does as he goes here.”

Pacheco started the season well, carrying 15 times in the Week 1 win over the Ravens.

He then went on to receive 19 carries against the Bengals in Week 2, before the fourth-quarter injury.

It is understood he did not suffer any ligament damage in the horror incident.

It is a huge blow for the Chiefs’ dreams of a third successive Super Bowl victory.

If Pacheco was to return after two-months, it would be around the busy Thanksgiving period.

Rookie Carson Steele, 21, and veteran Samaje Perine, 29, are set to take over in his absence.

The Chiefs signed ex-star RB Kareem Hunt to help the workload and see if he can regain his old form.

“We’ll get him in here and get some work”, Reid said on 29-year-old Hunt.

Diamonds are forever

Kansas City’s newest Super Bowl rings feature 529 diamonds, 38 rubies and a nod to their game-winning play.

The Chiefs flashed their latest piece of jewelry at a special ceremony on Thursday, June 13.

The new bling features the years of Kansas City’s Super Bowl wins – 1969, 2019, 2022 and 2023.

It also has a handwritten drawing of Andy Reid’s ‘Tom and Jerry’ play which won Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kansas City beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime in February.

And the rings feature 22 diamonds to represent the points Kansas City scored in the second half and overtime.

Nineteen diamonds also represent their 11 straight winning seasons and eight AFC West titles in a row.

While there is also commemorative patch for the late Norma Hunt, the matriarch of the family which owns the Chiefs who died last summer.

“Kind of get him back in the swing of playing.

“Then we’ll just see as the game gets closer.

“Try to get him in a position where he’s ready to play either this week, next week or the following week.”

“He needed a change of scenery and get some help and take care of business there.

“We felt like he did that. He did a nice job in Cleveland and we talked to people there, and there were no issues there.

“We felt okay by bringing him back, he’s 29 years old now. It looks like he’s grown up some.”

Regular backup Clyde Edwards-Helaire is on the PUP list due to a battle with PTSD, with no return date set.
