Different day, different zombies. At least that’s the case for one Walking Dead alum. Katy O’Brian, who fans of The Walking Dead may be familiar with from the series’ latest season, has joined the cast of another zombie series. If you guessed Z Nation, you nailed it! O’Brian has joined the cast of the SyFy series’ fifth season. So, who is O’Brian playing in Season 5? Here is what you need to know.
Katy O’Brian has been cast as a regular to play a character by the name of Georgia St. Clair, who also goes by George, per Deadline. St. Clair is a hero of the Newpocalypse. Eight years ago, she was a freshman in college. Then the Zombie Apocalypse broke out. She is a leader, who helped bring a group of students and teachers to NewMerica. It is in NewMerica where she has become a political leader, as survivors attempt to form a new country, all while dealing with a different sort of zombie.
It sounds like Katy O’Brian’s Z Nation character has been and will continue to be very busy! All of which should make for some incredibly compelling drama when the series returns. O’Brian starred in the eighth season of The Walking Dead as a member of the Saviors. She made her debut and exit in the same season.
Given that Z Nation has not been shy about acknowledging the revitalization The Walking Dead has given to the zombie genre, it would not be surprising if even more Walking Dead alums make their way to the SyFy series.
Want to catch up on Z Nation? You have time! Like The Walking Dead, the SyFy original series’ first four seasons are currently streaming on Netflix. And that’s not the only good news related to Netflix and Z Nation. A prequel series entitled Black Summer is on its way to the streamer.
Z Nation Season 5 is set to premiere later this year on SyFy. Until its return, there are a lot of viewing options. Check out the new shows still coming with CinemaBlend’s summer premiere guide. For new television that will arrive this fall, check out CinemaBlend’s guide to TV’s fall premieres.
