The Voice has returned for season 26 with a fresh crop of artists vying for the record deal and $100,000 grand prize. Season 25 champion coach Reba McEntire is back to defend her title. However, first she’ll have to go through fellow coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani. A recent promo showed all four coaches preparing to battle over Cameron Wright, who delivered an extraordinary cover of Barbra Streisand’s “The Way We Were.” Here are three quick facts about The Voice star who has the internet buzzing.

1. They’ve Been at This Awhile

While Cameron Wright, who uses they/them pronouns, is new to The Voice, they certainly are no stranger to performing. “I started singing around the country with my mom at five years old,” Wright told Voyage LA in a 2020 interview. “It started out in church, then onto larger stages probably by age 7 (at the time, my mom was touring).”

Wright’s mother, a professional gospel singer, “threw me on the stage and made me sing, yes, ‘Jesus Loves Me,’” when they were just 5 years old.

2. They Met Stevie Wonder Once

By age 10, Wright was a full-fledged professional singer, performing at NFL and MLB games in the Twin Cities area. Two years later, they recorded a demo of themself singing “Greatest Love of All” & “What A Wonderful World.” That demo found its way to Stevie Wonder himself, who flew The Voice star and their mom to Los Angeles as special guests for his annual House Full of Toys benefit.

3. They Were Part of Beyoncé’s Iconic Coachella Set

In 2018, Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman to ever headline the legendary Coachella music festival. Cameron Wright contributed vocals for the groundbreaking two-hour set. Later, they also provided studio vocals for Homecoming: The Live Album, which was born from the Coachella show.

Who Will Cameron Choose on ‘The Voice?’

Thanks to a promo released by The Voice, we know that Cameron Wright secures a four-chair turn with their show-stopping Barbra Streisand cover. You’ll have to tune into NBC at 7 p.m. Central to see which team Wright chooses. But it doesn’t seem like a stretch to say their journey is only beginning.
