If you frequently follow our MCU news and updates, you probably know that Marvel Studios is searching for a new actor to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. Due to Majors’ legal troubles and subsequent conviction, he was let go and effectively blacklisted by Hollywood.

Several names have been considered as potential replacements, but nothing has been finalized. The latest rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is close to selecting an actor, but no contracts have been signed yet.

One of the names mentioned in this context was John Boyega. Boyega gained worldwide fame for his role as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, although his character’s development was heavily criticized.

When a fan recently asked Boyega if he would be interested in playing Kang the Conqueror, he declined, despite many considering it the role of a lifetime and a potentially lucrative opportunity.

Although Boyega hasn’t recently commented on the matter, many fans speculate that he likely wants to avoid working with Disney. A few years ago, Boyega confirmed that he would not be returning as Finn in future Star Wars films, stating that he was finished with the franchise.

Boyega was unhappy with how he was treated during the filming of the sequel trilogy. He also felt that the writers and directors mishandled Finn, missing out on what could have been one of the most compelling character arcs in the sequels.

Boyega has stated that he has moved on from his issues with how he and Finn were handled during the sequel trilogy. Although he remains a fan of Star Wars, he felt it was important to move past those concerns and focus on other aspects of his career. His current goal is to showcase his versatility as an actor and avoid being typecast in a single role, similar to how Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were often associated with their Star Wars characters.

Given that Star Wars is owned by Disney, it’s understandable that he might also steer clear of Marvel Studios.
