House of the Dragon is inching towards an end that fans are not ready for

The Game of Thrones universe added to its canon with the hit show House of the Dragon. After a successful season 1, the show is back with its second season and it’s bloodier than ever. With the first episode of the second season having already aired, the show is slowly edging towards more blood and gore as the upcoming war becomes inevitable.

The first episode has given a little glimpse into what went down after the climactic end of season 1. As the death of Luke hits Rhaenyra hard, she and the Blacks, inevitably, go after the Greens. And what better than to go the eye-for-an-eye route? But every death is a step towards the end of the story as House of the Dragon heads toward the ultimate battle of the Dance of the Dragons.

House of the Dragon Is Moving Towards The Truth Fans Can’t Escape

Fans of Game of Thrones know how the story of the Targaryens ends. But very few people know what happened to each of the Targaryens. While Blood and Fire gave us an idea of how the Targaryen dynasty ruled for hundreds of years, it was Game of Thrones that spoiled a very important part of HotD years ago. This one thing was spoiled for the fans, way before House of the Dragon even existed, all thanks to one immensely detected character from the OG show. Have you guessed who that was?

We are talking about Prince, and later King Joffrey Baratheon, who in his rage while torturing Sansa, let it slip, that Princess Rhaenyra was killed by the Dragon Sunfyre. Aegon II, the first-born son of King Viserys I and his second wife, Alicent Hightower, kills Rhaenyra with his dragon – who burns her alive before eating her up.

While fans are divided between the Blacks and the Greens, this will be a tough scene to digest. But well, we have watched Game of Thrones Red Wedding, and Dany’s dragons Dracarys-ing the world at just one word from her. So, while this won’t be easy, it should not be that hard either. And to be honest, neither Alicent nor Rhaenyra really could have what they really wanted.

Game of Thrones Universe Adds Another Show In The Works

After the success of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones universe had plans for quite a few other projects. One was the first to follow Jon Snow played by Kit Harington beyond the wall after the end of the OG show. Another was about a knight named Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Aegon V. These are popularly known as GRRM‘s “Dunk & Egg” stories from his The Hedge Knight novel.

While the Jon Snow spin-off was shelved, The Hedge Knight spin-off is officially in production. HBO recently revealed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the prequel show has already begun shooting in Ireland. Peter Claffey has been cast as Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell will be playing Aegon V (Egg).

While fans are excited to meet more Targaryens down the line, for now, everyone is sitting with nail-biting anticipation, as HotD approaches its second episode of the season. All episodes of House of the Dragon are available on HBO Max.
