Pro-Trump multibillionaire Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, was blasted on his X social media platform for suggesting he would impregnate Taylor Swift after she endorsed Kamala Harris for president and signed her post “Childless Cat Lady.”
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of X (formerly Twitter) posted on the platform Tuesday night.
Musk, who has more than 197 million followers on X, was reacting to Swift’s Instagram post saying she will vote for Harris, writing in part, “I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” Swift made the endorsement following Tuesday’s debate between Harris and Donald Trump.
Musk’s comment was swiftly condemned by commenters on X as disturbing, with some calling it sexual harassment. “You’re creepy. Full stop,” wrote Claudia Conway, daughter of former Trump aide Kellyanne Conway.
“I’m sorry but the richest man on the planet casually telling a woman he’s not dating that he’s going to put a baby in her is so skin-crawlingly creepy I don’t know where to start,” Armand Domalewski, a pro-Democratic data scientist, wrote on X.
Another X user, posting past tweets from Musk directed at Swift, wrote about the tech mogul’s latest comment, “Elon has been trying to get Taylor Swift’s attention for years and to my knowledge she has never publicly acknowledged he exists.” Another commenter on the platform wrote that Musk’s message to the singer that “I will impregnate you” is “sexual harassment.”
Swift’s “Childless Cat Lady” sign-off was a reference to comments made by Trump’s VP running mate, JD Vance, who in 2022 said the Democratic party is led “by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.”
Musk has fathered “12 known children” and is currently engaged in a custody battle with former girlfriend Grimes over three of them, Rolling Stone reported. Musk has raised alarms about the dire threat of “population collapse” in Western countries, and in 2022 jokingly tweeted “I am doing my part haha” to repopulate the Earth.
