Ewan Mitchell is getting body-shamed online but fans are not even aware of it.

Erin Moriarty, House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon actor Ewan Mitchell is facing extreme body criticism on social media due to his fetal position and full-frontal n*de scenes in the hit fantasy series. In Episodes 2 and 3, viewers saw Aemond Targaryen in his bare body. The actor was later body-shamed on social media with several memes comparing his fetal position to the Harry Potter’s Baby Voldemort scene.

Perhaps the most horrendous incident of body-shaming happened with The Boys’ Erin Moriarty. The actress was accused of going under the knife, but despite the amount of hate she got, she also received immense support. Somehow, this isn’t happening with Mitchell’s case.

Erin Moriarty Received Outpouring Support During Plastic Surgery Allegations

In January, the controversy over Erin Moriarty’s alleged botched plastic surgery surfaced online after fans noticed the difference in her appearance. Later on, she was slammed by former Fox News host Megyn Kelly for having an obsession with cosmetic surgery.

The actress defended herself and claimed the photo used by the host was taken a decade ago when she was in her early 20s. Moriarty is now 30 years of age and she would not take this accusation lightly.

On her now-deleted Instagram post, she released a statement saying: “There’s no excuse for these horrific allegations, the verbal abuse that I have had to delete, and genuinely false information that is being used to perpetuate a message that is exhibitionist feminism.” She later on announced that she’ll be stepping away from social media.

In the midst of the chaos, Moriarty received support from her fellow costars and even fans. In her Instagram story (via Deadline), she wrote: “Dropping in to say 1) I love you all 2) v grateful to be holding my little dude again and 3) to [those] that came forward to talk to me, were vulnerable enough to share: you are f—king amazing.”

She continues working on The Boys and she became more open to discussing issues like this after she returned to her social media platform.

Fans React To House Of The Dragon Star Ewan Mitchell’s Body-Shaming Controversy

Ewan Mitchell spoke with Jonatan Blomberg from MovieZine and admitted he was pretty confident with his n*de scene in House of the Dragon.

I was saying before, you just feel really protected and it’s actually kind of liberating in a weird kind of way. It’s so encoded in Aemond’s DNA to be so free and to keep the audience on their toes.

Despite Mitchell’s fit and lean physique, netizens were quick to react negatively to it. A fan called dankilgrave appealed on Threads to stop body-shaming the actor, which surprisingly a lot of fans are unaware of. “It’d be nice if people stopped the body shaming of actor Ewan Mitchell from House of the Dragon. Not every man needs to always look like Thor,” he wrote.

The cases of Moriarty and Mitchell are clear examples of society’s double standards when it comes to men and women in terms of beauty.

House of the Dragon Season 2 is now streaming on HBO.
