The hit Netflix show has finally returned with season 3, with Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) taking center stage as the leading couple. Anthony and Kate also returned as one of the many supporting characters, but their appearances were brief in part 1. The Bridgerton characters only appeared in the first episode to extend their honeymoon, leaving the couple absent for the remainder of part 1.

So, obviously, we bring Anthony and Kate back at the top of part one and then send them off again. We definitely wanted to check in with them again, because I feel like their happy ending was so hard-fought in season two. So, we felt like they deserved some time to just exist inside their love bubble.

Sending them away also felt right because if we had kept them in the show too often, it felt like we would have to create some conflict between them, and we didn’t really want to do that again. But they are back for more in the back half and they have some key roles to play with the ace story. So that’ll be a fun one for people to see

This puts Penelope in a difficult position after Colin finally reciprocates his feelings to her at the end of Bridgerton season 3, part 1. The couple could likely guide the recently engaged couple as they slowly announce it to London society. It is even possible that Anthony and Kate could be essential if Colin indeed learns about Penelope’s secret, which could lead to calling off the engagement.

Other ways the couple could be involved could include uncovering who Lady Whistledown is due to their competitive spirit. There has also been some speculation that Kate could be pregnant, which would mirror the couple’s arc in the book.
