Lee Jung-jae's Master Sol smiles in The Acolyte, edited over a sunny backgroundLee Jung-jae’s Master Sol is central to Star Wars: The Acolyte, and he has quickly won over fans’ hearts within the Star Wars TV show’s first three episodes. Having taken inspiration from Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn, Sol has already proven himself to be very different from most of the Jedi viewers have seen in every iteration of the Star Wars saga. As a Jedi who embraces his emotions and uses memories as lessons, Sol is very much the kind of Jedi audiences have been waiting to see – and they can’t get enough of him already.

Various Star Wars fans have taken to social media to share their love for Jung-jae’s Sol, especially in light of The Acolyte episode 3. User hunterbadbatch has highlighted Sol’s empathy, which he displays in this episode for Osha after she loses everything on Brendok. Sol’s desire to protect Osha is put on display straightaway, particularly in the way he both saves her life and offers her an embrace.

User danies394 compares two images of Sol side-by-side, one from the present day events of The Acolyte and one from the flashback as featured in episode 3. In both, Sol looks upon Osha with the same amount of love, causing this user to promptly declare their admiration of Sol’s sweetly vulnerable emotions.

User Dreamingastrid shares their personal feelings towards Sol, in terms of how the character moves them from beyond the screen. They describe the feeling as something that’s “warm, and safe,” which is very much the type of emotion Jung-jae projects as Sol with his performance.

User hellikait pokes lighthearted fun at how Sol’s attachment to Osha technically breaks the Jedi Code, but he disregards that in favor of caring for her anyway. They even include a bit about adoption papers, which is a hilarious way of highlighting the Jedi’s evident desire to take in Osha as if she’s his own.

User LADYQlRA offers a simpler yet comedic take on professing their love for Sol, adding a video that celebrates one’s dad by singing, “You’re my dad! Boogie-woogie-woogie!” Along with this video is the simple caption “master sol i love u,” which expertly sums up all viewers’ feelings towards this Jedi Master.

Master Sol Is One Of The Most Compassionate Jedi To Date

While Sol certainly follows in the footsteps of Qui-Gon, as Jung-jae has said himself, this Jedi Master is truly one-of-a-kind in Star Wars. It’s clear from his very first moments in The Acolyte that he has a type of vulnerability that is unique to all Jedi, especially in an Order that is becoming more and more dogmatic. Sol displays the type of empathy people in the galaxy no doubt expect from all Jedi, making him a model of sorts for what compassion ought to look like in these peacekeepers.

Though Sol’s story is far from over, and the details of his role in the tragedy on Brendok are still murky at best, there’s no doubt the love for Sol and his compassion will only continue to grow as The Acolyte goes on. The Acolyte episode 3 has already shown that Sol is a Jedi who’s not afraid to even shed tears in front of others, which is a far cry from the emotionless Jedi of the Star Wars prequel era. It will be a true highlight, then, to see how Sol develops even more as the story of The Acolyte continues on.

The Acolyte episode 3 is now streaming. New episodes release Tuesdays on Disney+.
