Netflix’s hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer has been a massive success thus far, but will the streamer renew the series for season 5? Debuting in 2022 and based on the books by Michael Connelly, The Lincoln Lawyer concerns idealistic defense attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who practices out of his car and often finds himself deeply invested in the cases he’s trying. Using Connelly’s brilliant book series as a guide, the Netflix series has managed to capture all the humor and excitement that makes the Haller series such a compelling read.
Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer adapted Connelly’s novel Gods of Guilt, and followed Mickey as he defends a client who is accused of killing another of his former clients, Glory Days. After uncovering the massive conspiracy behind all the deaths throughout season 3, Mickey becomes embroiled in his own shocking twist ending. The body of former client Sam Scales winds up in his trunk, and the police are looking for answers. This means season 4 will likely adapt Connelly’s The Law of Innocence, but Netflix will need to renew the legal drama first.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Latest News
The Showrunners Discuss The Show’s Future
In lieu of a season 4 renewal, the latest news sees the showrunners discussing the broader future of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer. Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez both serve as showrunners on the series, and they spoke candidly about where the legal drama could be heading. “We always set up sort of the next case of the season,” said Rodriguez, and the season 3 ending backed up that statement. However, Humphrey offered a more interesting tidbit when saying “We have plans internally for how to adapt versions of all the books.“Since there are currently six books in the Mickey Haller series, it stands to reason that plans are in place to bring at least six seasons of the Netflix series. On the other hand, Humphrey did tease even more when he said “Michael [Connelly] hints that he’s potentially working on another Lincoln Lawyer book…if he is working on one, we are very eager to read it.” However, all that ultimately depends on viewership numbers, but there’s little doubt that audiences want more.

Rodriguez : We always set up sort of the next case of the season. This one won’t quite set up the next case, but it will definitely set up the next book.
Humphrey : I think we can say this season will definitely propel us in a very exciting and personal way into a Season 4. Michael hints that he’s potentially working on another Lincoln Lawyer book beyond the ones that have already been published. We don’t know that for sure. Obviously, if he is working on one, we are very eager to read it. We have plans internally for how to adapt versions of all the books. If the audience keeps enjoying what we’re doing, then we will keep making the show… we would go for a potential Season 5 and even 6 beyond that.

With the gut-wrenching finale of season 3 leaving things unresolved, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Netflix orders a fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer. However, the streamer hasn’t given the green light to season 4 yet, and they will likely assess the viewership data before making their next move. Fortunately for those eagerly awaiting to find out what happens next, Netflix has wasted little time when it comes to renewing their signature legal drama for new seasons.
All seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer are available exclusively on Netflix.
It took less than a month for season 2 to score a green light, and even less time for The Lincoln Lawyer to get renewed for season 3. With that sort of positive track record, a renewal for season 4 seems imminent as the series continues to pick up steam from year to year. Netflix shows (like Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Squid Game) are notorious for taking years between seasons, but The Lincoln Lawyer has aired new seasons consistently since 2022, even during the strike-affected year of 2023.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Cast Details
Mickey & His Team Will Return For Season 4
Though the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer utilizes a wide range of guest stars from season to season, Mickey and his team have remained largely consistent since day one. It’s all but confirmed that Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will return to reprise his role as the eponymous lawyer, Mickey Haller, and a recast seems impossible at this juncture. He’ll be joined by Becki Newton as Haller’s ex-wife and legal aide, Lorna, who is especially important in season 4 since she is now licensed to practice law.

Furthermore, Angus Sampson will reprise his role as Mickey’s go-to investigator, Dennis “Cisco” Wojciechowski, alongside Jazz Raycole as Haller’s former client-turned-driver, Izzy Letts. The police are looking for answers, and Mickey is the most obvious suspect, especially since he has a monetary motive.

Season 3 was no exception, and the shocking twist put Mickey in the hottest water he’s been in thus far. Having wrapped up the murder of Glory Days, and uncovered the major conspiracy within the DA’s office, Mickey is shocked to discover the body of former client Sam Scales in his trunk. The police are looking for answers, and Mickey is the most obvious suspect, especially since he has a monetary motive.

This tease hints that season 4 will adapt Connelly’s novel The Law of Innocence, which sees Mickey arrested for murder and forced to defend himself while behind bars. This will increase the importance of characters like Lorna, and now that she can practice law, Mickey will need her more than ever. Years of defending his clients has prepared Mickey for anything, but the stakes are raised when it’s his neck on the line in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.
