Will we ever see Lady in Silver?
Even if many of the most loyal and attentive Bridgerton fans have already figured out the secret, it is now official: season 4 of the show will tell the love story of Benedict Bridgerton. The long wait to see Luke Thompson in the lead role is now over, and fans are more than excited for what’s to come.
Based on the third book in the Bridgerton series, An Offer from a Gentleman, the season will cover all the trials and tribulations that the most artistic Bridgerton and his love interest, Sophie Beckett, have to go through before they finally come together. And while the book is a clear Cinderella retelling, viewers believe Sophie could end up as another Disney princess.
Who Is Going to Play Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton Season 4?
For now, the casting of Sophie Beckett, Benedict’s fictional love interest who was teased in Netflix ‘s TUDUM article announcing his season, is under wraps. But no matter which actress takes on the role, fans are just as excited to meet her.
Since many expected the show to follow the book order and release Benedict’s story before Colin’s, all Benophie fans ended up waiting 4 years longer just to see their favorite story adapted, even if it’s going to be heavily altered. Considering that the book was published in 2001, Benedict’s behavior is sometimes questionable and fans want to see that changed.
Another big change that the show has already made to Benedict’s character is making him canonically queer and interested in both male and female partners. Since nothing happens for no reason on any Shondaland show, fans feel that this part of his character could be further explored through his love story with Sophie.
“Imagine if Sophie is Southeast Asian and Mulan is the plotline for Ben’s season instead of Cinderella,” X user @marrianeHS said.
While in the book he meets the love of his life at a masquerade ball dressed as a mysterious Lady in Silver, some fans assume that he might meet a Gentleman in Silver instead. Or, to turn this twist on its head, he may not recognize Sophie as a Lady in Silver due to her masculine representation in everyday life.
Either way, Sophie’s story will be more Mulan than Cinderella. The good news is that it’ll still be just as magical.
If you are interested in how Benedict’s romance will play out, be sure to keep an eye out for more Bridgerton news and updates. In the meantime, you can binge-watch seasons 1 through 3 of the show on Netflix.
