This is slightly disappointing.

While most viewers don’t care what goes on behind the scenes of their favorite TV shows or movies, as long as the end result is great, some stories are just too fascinating to miss. These include the stories of actors who have expanded their characters in real life as part of the Method acting routine.

Whether you find it ridiculous or helpful, it’s hard to argue that Method acting can be the cause of chaos if not used in moderation. Stories like The Boys, where all the characters are completely insane in one way or another, are the most dangerous in this regard.

Is Antony Starr a Method Actor?

Being in a show like The Boys is no joke, and it must take a toll on the actors. This is especially true since not many of them expected the level of intensity and lack of boundaries that the show has. Chace Crawford, who portrays The Deep on the show, certainly didn’t expect some of the most disturbing scenes he got.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the actor talked about all the surprises The Boys shocked him with. Crawford wasn’t fully aware of what he was getting into during the audition process, but he knew the type of character The Deep was, and he went with it.

And while many fans believe that all of the actors have a connection to their characters, the set of The Boys is not a place to practice Method acting. Speaking about his co-star Antony Starr, who portrays the leader of The Seven, Homelander, the actor went on to reassure fans that no one in the cast uses unconventional practices to get into character.

“He’s taught me a lot, because he takes it so seriously, in the best way possible. He cares the most out of anyone in the room about nailing it. To that degree, he can be intense. <…> He’s cracking up at his Kiwi accent. No one on set is Method, and he’s not like that at all,” Crawford said.

After all the horror stories about Jared Leto ‘s preparation for the roles of the Joker and Morbius, it’s nice to know that the atmosphere on the set of The Boys doesn’t feel like a creepy psych ward. The script already suggests so many intense things happening at once in each episode that the cast and crew probably couldn’t handle adding Method to the mix.
