Unsurprisingly, given the context of Bridgerton season 3, Hyacinth was a relatively peripheral figure. Instead, most of the drama focused around the budding relationship between third Bridgerton brother Colin and Penelope Featherington. Although their love match was complicated by Penelope’s secret identity as the salacious gossip-merchant Lady Whistledown, Bridgerton season 3 part 2 ended on a happy note. However, the narrative left plenty of open-ended issues for the story to explore in upcoming seasons – including where Hyacinth Bridgerton is concerned.
Who Hyacinth Marries In The Bridgerton Books
Their Relationship Is Grounded In Adventure
In keeping with the tradition of the Bridgerton books, Hyacinth’s relationship history is defined by love. After several unsuccessful seasons on the marriage mart, Hyacinth encounters Lady Danbury’s grandson, the beguiling Gareth St. Clair. Although Hyacinth is immediately admitted, Gareth takes time to warm to his future wife. However, over the course of the seventh Bridgerton novel, It’s In His Kiss, both characters grow close together, resulting in their wedding by the story’s end.

Gareth is an interesting case as his story arguably mirrors Simon’s from the first novel and Bridgerton season 1. Whereas Simon was determined to spite his father, Gareth faces ruin when his legal father (and biological uncle) Richard St. Clair declares his intent to spend the family fortune before Gareth can inherit a penny. This situation prompts him to team up with Hyacinth and, despite initially finding her confidence and outspokenness infuriating, he quickly falls for her, resulting in their marriage.
What Happens To Hyacinth & What To Expect From Her Future On Bridgerton
She’s Important In Multiple Bridgerton Novels
As is typical of any Bridgerton romance, Hyacinth’s love story is not entirely straightforward. At the start of It’s In His Kiss, the youngest Bridgerton has spent several unsuccessful seasons trying to find a husband, with most men unable to handle her bold personality. For her part, Hyacinth is largely unperturbed by the situation, being unwilling to settle for anyone who doesn’t accept her for who she is. It’s this backstory, and history of unsuccessful marriage marts, that makes her match with Gareth all the more gratifying.
Although both Hyacinth and Gareth have strong feelings for one another, their relationship does not develop traditionally. Instead, they grow increasingly close when Hyacinth volunteers to help translate Gareth’s paternal grandmother’s Italian diary – within which lies the solution to his legal problems with his adoptive father. It is while the pair work on the mystery of the diary that their feelings begin to manifest into something more concrete.
In addition to her family life with Gareth, Hyacinth goes on to play an active role in the final Bridgerton story, On the way to the Wedding , when she sets her brother Gregory up with Lucinda Abernathy…
Like every Bridgerton story, there are ups and downs in Gareth and Hyacinth’s relationship – often because of Hyacinth’s atypical outlook, which Gareth doesn’t always respect. However, the novel has a happy ending, with the pair marrying and having two children – George and Isabella. In addition to her family life with Gareth, Hyacinth goes on to play an active role in the final Bridgerton story, On the way to the Wedding, when she sets her brother Gregory up with Lucinda Abernathy, highlighting how she remains a pivotal character after her own romance’s resolution.
Which Season Of Bridgerton Will Be Hyacinth’s Story?
It Depends On The Structure The Seasons Take
In Julia Quinn’s novel series, Hyacinth Bridgerton’s story is explored in the seventh installment, It’s In His Kiss. However, judging by the structure of the Netflix series so far, it seems unlikely that this will be mirrored by the show. Whereas Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 played out in the same order as the book series, season 3 has shaken things up dramatically. Instead of focusing on Benedict, as in the books, the show jumped straight to book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, focusing mainly on the relationship between Colin and Penelope.
Given that Francesca Bridgerton was established as an important side character, and Bridgerton season 3 introduced the enigmatic Michaela Stirling, it seems highly likely that she will take center stage in season 4. This means that Hyacinth’s story likely won’t be explored until at least Bridgerton season 5 – and likely even later, considering that both Benedict and Eloise’s futures are up in the air. As a result, it’s likely that fans will have to wait before seeing Hyacinth’s future played out on screen.
