The Acolyte is set to be a fresh new chapter in the Star Wars franchise but its most recent trailer has left loyal fans unimpressed.
The 2024 Star Wars Day marked the impending arrival of a new chapter in the space opera franchise when the final trailer for The Acolyte was dropped online. The series is less than a month away from its premiere and will take viewers to the High Republic era when the Jedi Knights were at the peak of their prowess.
The Acolyte dropped its final trailer on Star Wars Day.
Despite the intriguing premise and promise of a fresh new narrative landscape, the trailer has failed to impress fans for several reasons. After the trailer debuted online, fans took to social media to share their feelings about it. Here is what fans had to say about The Acolyte‘s trailer, and why the trailer failed to impress the fans.
Fans Left Unimpressed With The Acolyte Trailer Despite Mature Storytelling
Star Wars: The Acolyte is a series created by Leslye Headland that takes place during the end of the High Republic era, years before the mainline Star Wars films. It stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, and Carrie-Anne Moss in key roles. The series dropped its final trailer on May 4, 2024, on Star Wars Day.
Star Wars fans were left unimpressed with The Acolyte‘s latest trailer.
However, the trailer failed to impress fans and generate positive hype for the series despite an intriguing premise that revolves around a Jedi Master’s investigation of a series of crimes, and their conflict with their former Jedi Padawan. Here is what fans had to say about The Acolyte‘s final trailer on X.

Looks like a fan film. Did they get the cast from cosplayers at a convention?
— 2AJames (@2AJames_) May 4, 2024
As the tweets suggest, fans were clearly unhappy with the trailer for The Acolyte, and many were uninterested in the series after watching it. Therefore, it is safe to say that the final trailer for the highly anticipated and ambitious series has failed to generate enough hype ahead of its release next month. Moreover, a diverse cast and an intriguing premise also could not get fans to support the upcoming series.
What Went Wrong With The Acolyte Trailer?
From the social media reactions, it is safe to say that The Acolyte‘s final trailer has been a failure among the fans of Star Wars. One of the primary issues fans have with the trailer is its visual style, which looks squeaky clean and isn’t reminiscent of the rustic look of the films made under George Lucas.
The hint of a Sith Lord in The Acolyte‘s trailer was the only hype-worthy moment.
Some fans have also criticized the overuse of CGI and Volume technology for filming the series, which they felt was evident in the trailer. Other fans were left disappointed by the trailer as it failed to generate any kind of excitement or emotional reaction from them, compelling them to check out the series.
Fans also criticized other aspects of the series such as costumes and dialog, which they found extremely bland and did not do justice to the intriguing premise. The only hype-worthy moment from the trailer seems to be the introduction of a Sith Lord during the final moments. Ultimately, it seems fans are tired of the formulaic storytelling from Star Wars under Disney, and the trailer for The Acolyte seems to be more of the same.
The Acolyte will debut with two episodes set to be released on June 4, 2024, on Disney+. You can check out the full trailer below.
