Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) revealed that the show’s bosses mixed up the two Lukes on set when they confused Benedict Bridgerton actor Luke Thompson with Colin Bridgerton actor Luke Newton.

“Luke Thompson got mixed up with the other Luke — Newton — on the show,” Nicola explained. “They offered him a personal trainer for his intimate scenes, and we don’t get all the scripts at once, so he was like, ‘I wonder what that’s going to be?'”

As it turned out, however, Luke Thompson didn’t actually have any intimate scenes to film and when the show’s bosses finally realised what had happened they quickly cleared things up.

However, in a pretty lucky twist of fate, the powers that be let Luke keep his personal trainer, which is the sort of work perk we could only dream of.

Don’t worry though, we’ll get our fix of steamy scenes (though sadly no spoon licking) in this next instalment, as Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, previously teased the return of “steamy” sequences.

“The thing that’s so at the heart of Bridgerton is intimacy and identity and sexuality – and so of course that’s something we’re going to have to make sure we continue with,” he told The Mirror.

“I think the expression of sex in this show is so important.”

So do we, Jonathan, so do we.
